I just played Mega and it is an awesome fast paced action packed shooter I unfortunately missed in my youth. I honestly prefer it to Contra games. Way cooler power ups and visuals.

Turrican and Contra and entirely different games that can't be compared to each other, but either way both are amazing as fuck.

Turrican is great, although I prefer the stage design in Contra, as well as the 8-way aiming.
Check out the Super Nintendo Turrican games as well. The second one, Super Turrican 2, is really unique and cool.

Mega Turrican gets worse as you progress in the game. By the time you get to the xenomorphs stage the gameplay is so fucking done and reptitive.
