What do you guys think of the Amiga version of Castlevania?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utFlAX9RJQM

I've read people around here say this one is one of the best and better than the original NES version, but I dunno... not sure...
>>
>>3195132
OH BOY ANOTHER CASTLEVANIA THREAD
>>
>>3195132
dat framerate
physics seem off too but it could just be 16:9 making my brain scream
who around here said this was better than the NES version?
>>
>>3195146
The Autistic Australia-kun Bros.
>>
>tfw there's an autistic european out there who probably unironically thinks this
>>
>>3195132
It's a decent alternative but the NES version is still better. Check the sales between both versions and you'll have an idea why.
>>
I also heard Mega Man on DOS was good
>>
It looks and sounds bad and seems like it plays bad too. But obviously the Amiga is capable of much, much better and would easily surpass the NES version if the port was done properly.
>>
It was the first Castlevania to let you jump onto stairs. It's innovative.
>>
>>3195132
draculas ghost looks fucking retarded lmao
>>
MSX version still best version
>>
>>3195484
I wonder if anyone's ever beaten megaman on dos

Said nobody, ever.
It's trash, like most things Amiga.
For true torture, try DOS Megaman.
>>
>>3196028
>Said nobody, ever.

Australia-kun did.

He just got banned again though so he won't be posting for another 3 days or so.

You'd be surprised how many delusional Amiga fanboys are out there in UK and Germany and other areas where it was popular.
Nothing surpassed the Amiga to them, and they'll argue with you the way people who are still stuck in the 16-bit consol wars do.
Still, it's awesome that the Amiga scene is still thriving after all these years.

This is the first time I've known of this.

The music could probably sound really good on that soundfront, but the arrangements are pretty bad.
>>
>>3196028
>It's trash, like most things Amiga.
You have to be at least 18 to post here, champ.
>>
>>3196075
The Amiga didn't use soundfonts or anything like that, it used samples.
>>
>>3195132
Dat Ecran Titre music tho.

>>3195147
>>3196031
To be honest I strongly suspect Australia-kun secretly hates every Castlvania and that's why he keeps posting anything he thinks will make the rest of the fanbase upset.
>>
>>3196094

He probably is an actual aussie or britbong oldfag who grew up in the 80s with nostalgia for Amiga and Sega and has a personal grief with nintendo, but yeah I think he trolls on purpose just to stir up shit. He really does it in every fucking Castlevania thread though. He probably thinks it's cool that he can actually entirely destroy threads easily and get people talking about him, but that's why he has mental problems, he thinks it's cool or funny, but it's really not. I don't browse /vr/ too often, but the week ends I do, there's always that guy shitting up Castlevania threads, been here for over a year now.
>>
>>3196075
>>3196083
It obviously could have had a killer soundtrack and gameplay on the system, it was just an all around horrible port.

Too bad there's not a clause where you can't post for having absolute shit taste, such as yourself.

Reminds me of one Greek guy I know who had an Amiga as a kid and never shuts the fuck up about it today
>>
>>3196045
If /vr/ has taught me anything it's that there are fans for any game/system no matter how shit it is. I'm sure there's somebody on here who unironicaly likes Sword of Sodan or Shadow of the Beast.
>>
>>3196031
I see. A fleeting reprieve from his idiocy at least.

The best version of most computer games from the era is the Amiga version.
>>
>>3196195
Amiga is a great system with a wide variety of games worth checking out.
But like with any system, you got fans that overrate stuff, and hen we have people like you that seem to undervalue it.

Megaman on DOS is shit compared to the original games, of course, but a couple points should be made:

1) It's not a direct port but a licensed fangame made by like 2 dudes
2) It's pretty much on par with other DOS platformers
>>
>>3196202
xcom on the amiga is fucking shit

>>
>>3196031
He's on /v/ at the moment, saw a signature "super castlevania bros" thread earlier there. Hopefully he stays.
>>
>>3196865
Where will he venture to next, I wonder?
>>
>>3196031
Do people even read his posts with a straight face? I can't help but to either laugh or cringe at every single word that comes from him. He's basically a meme now.
>>
>>3196867
Nowhere. He's just back to where he came from.
>>
Amiga isn't even really that bad. If you want a really shit platform that Australia-kun likes, check out the ZX Spectrum.
>>
>>3195132
>What do you guys think of the Amiga version of Castlevania?
Amiga/Ausfag here. It's rubbish, like most ports to Amiga.
>>3196892
>ZX Spectrum.
Pom's love that thing for some reason. Every second issue of RetroGamer magazine has a spectrum special.

Guess I'll ask here, never played Simon's quest and wanted to ask how you guys would rate the fan translation? Obviously the original translation is known to be cryptic as fuck and I wanted to know if this one is actually helpful?

If you owned an Amiga, why would you be playing a shitty port of Castlevania when you could be playing Elf, Flood, Shadow of the Beast or Magic Pockets?
>>
>>3197698
Or Gods, Turrican II, Ruff´n´Tumble, Rubicon, etc.
