If I ever were to get a tattoo, the only ones I think I'd go with would be the Sigma/Maverick/Irregular logo or the Team Rocket "R." My general feeling is that tattoos should be designs or simple logos. Hoping that your tattoo artist gets a character or real person to look just right in a mostly permanent medium seems like a big risk. Something fairly simple like Kirby or an 8 bit copy the dots thing would probably work, too.

Sure, if it's well done. The problem with retro tattoo's is that in general they don't seem well done. The art is simplistic, the message behind them is simplistic, the entire idea isn't that interesting to me.
If it's aesthetically pleasing I say sure go for it. Usually retro gaming tattoo's come across as cluttered though. Too many colors, to much information crammed into one picture to try to establish an idea of nostalgia.
