It is hard not to hate it, and I try so hard especially since it was my first series like most of you here. Niggah, I cried for this goddamn series twice, and many more when it wasn't going to be airing in my country anymore in a time long ago.
It is the sins of OS that pretty much marked a strong negative impression on pokemon fans: Ash never evolves his Pokemon, Ash always leaves behind his Pokemon, Ash always gets petty badges, muh coma theory, aim for the horn, ground can be affected by electric attacks, filler hell, etc.. And for my own personal peeves, mishandling of Ash's badge quest, the general lack of development in Ash's character until Orange Islands, Gary barely even a rival, Ritchie and the catastrophe at the League
That's not to say other seasons has its faults as well, like Ash continually losing in the league, somehow justifying people's thoughts that Ash is a shit trainer or that he never beats his rivals, Thunder Armor, etc., but OS being the first series really set up what many people thinks of the anime.
Haugh, what injury has it done, and yet strangely, people still praise it as the best season in spite of all its faults.
