Initially, it was said that footage enver seen on TV would be shown on the Pokemon variety hour. The ever abundant hype-retards of /vp/ immediately twisted this to mean completely new info would be given. Lo and behold, it was just the same announcement trailer.
Poke-tubers are pretty much all trash, and they love to come here to vp and reddit to get obvious fakemons to pass of as real pokemon for clickbait. They all started hyping the reveal, once again spreading misinformation, and then they all started blaming each other over what happened.
In the interview, Masuda said their would be over 10 new pokemon , which was meant as a joke, and so everyone laughed on the show. Serebii confirmed it, and basically confirmed it's a new gen, since new poke=new gen.
