For people in my highschool, Pokemon did not even register. It was always "that game we played when we were kids," that is, until my very last year when fucking EVERYBODY bought X&Y and literally everyone was playing it all the fucking time. It was really only the upperclassmen for some reason, but still it was crazy how popular it became all of a sudden. As if everyone in my town just collectively decided to buy a 3DS and X&Y one day. And it wasn't just casuals (although most of them were), because going to the library and playing on Showdown during study hall also became really popular. I was a diehard pokemon fan for my whole life but had nobody to play with until my very last year of high school. Wtf?

Got suspended and shit, but I thankfully was never approached by anybody. It was found later he actually beat his mom into getting him Pokemon merchandise and stuff, threatened to rape her and their dog.
Afterwards my mom told me that other moms she met at her Bunko games or whatever were talking about really cracking down on Pokemon and other 'violent video games'. It was bizarre, like being in Australia or back in the 'jynx is offensive' era.

I was in second grade when the Pokemon craze started; I want to say around fourth grade was when the general consensus was that Pokemon was now for babies and I hid that shit like porn under my mattress. I got sent into the hall for the rest of class for being disrupted and some kid came and sat next to me and got stocked I was playing Pokemon. Now that dudes my best friend.
I was working on a horse ranch in WA when B&W came out, that game saved my ass when i got stuck in a blizzard for two weeks and had nothing else to do but freeze.

Honestly, I was hoping that BW was a sign of Gamefreak stepping up their game storywise. I was pretty disappointed with B2/W2 when they came out, didn't like that the player characters were younger again, I liked all of the rivals in BW better than whatshisname (Colress was cool enough, not quite as cool as N was)...
However, I'd initially played through White 2 a little into the postgame, and it wasn't feeling very cool. I decide that maybe I'd been playing the wrong version, that since I'd played Black version (which had gone missing, never to return ):), I thought I'd enjoy Black 2 more. I was wrong, and I left the game at Opelucid.
Years later I revisited Black 2, and I was actually able to appreciate how awesome that part of the game was, and I feel that if I were to play them again All the way through, that I would enjoy them. I like these games better than Gen 6.

My family moved before my second year of High School, but I liked my school, and I liked my friends and I liked where I lived, and was also pretty easy tp fond people playing BW. It's a couple weeks from then that we get an internet service. School started, and I was too depressed to make friends.
So a couple months later they announce BW2. I get excited, and go online to make theories about where they might be taking the story. I buy the game, thinking it will fill the hole.
