I guess I'll start. On Emerald I was grinding my team to face Brawly in Granite Cave. Eventually, I encountered a shiny Makuhita, but I was out of Pokeballs, After that, I stocked back up and continued searching for it, since I thought that I could find it again.
Also, if you have ORAS/XY, I'll recreate your missed shinmon if you'd like.

Y:
Wandering around outside Zubat Roost for a Bagon with a decent nature. Shiny Seviper shows up. I have flashbacks to Linoone. Just throw pokeballs. Caught it on the third try.
OR:
Chaining for Absol. Repel's effect wore off. You do not have any more repels. Fuck it, I'll keep going until the chain breaks. Random encounter before I get to the next shaking spot. Horde of Maril, third one in is lime green. Pick off its brethren and capture.
Going through the underwater cavern looking for stuff I missed earlier. Find shiny Golbat. Huck pokeballs until captured.
I almost want to make a team of shinies but not a one has had anything close to a decent nature or ability.

Last year, early morning, relaxing in bed. I decide to go plant some berry trees in my Pokémon omega ruby. I walk over the bridge where the swablu fly across, get down to the grass, hope for no Pokémon jumping out at me as I just wanna plant berries.

It is a gorgeous golden ball of fluff.

My first shiny was a diggersby from the friend safari, then a bunch of instacheck'd shinies. I have also 'accidently' MM'd a bunch whist IV breeding, but my #1 was a mawile I bred from two parents that I had also bred, it was male and had hyper cutter but at least it was adamant.

Only failure i had was in Emerald back then. A Mightyena roared me out.
Two near-failures were in AS with Regice and Regirock, which almost suicided.

First shiny was a Crobat in Gold. I was a kid, thought my game was messed up, and ran from it.
Next shiny was a wild wingull in Diamond. Underwhelming haha.
After that, next shiny was a pelliper in AS. Felt like I was cursed.
Then I got REALLY lucky in AS as I started breeding many competitive pokemon. I hatched a shiny dratini by chance. Went to check IVs and it was flawless across the board. Then while breeding Torchics I got a shiny but the IVs were wrong. So I kept breeding for a correct IV spread for competitive use and I just happened to get another shiny torchic about 20 eggs later with the correct IVs.

I only failed once as a kid. Unaware of the concept of shinies, I went to Diglett's Cave for the first time in LeafGreen. The first Diglett to ever show up was shiny, and I didn't have any Pokéballs.
It didn't really phase me at the time. My blissful unawareness made me forget about it.

My first shiny was a nidoran, can't even remember whether male or female, in sapphire. I resetted that save because I had the bad habit of restarting games a lot. Can't remember any details about it.
After that, I got lots of shinies both in X and AS, no failures at all. Most in safari zone, some in hordes. Right off the bat I remember having a Lampent, Lillipup (now Stoutland), and a Swablu (now Altaria) but I have more I don't remember (treasured in my bank). The funniest one was this though

My latest succesful hunt was a shiny Reshiram. It had like 0 IVs in both Def and SpAtk though, so I only used it in contests.
