In Pallet town, Kanto (Pkmn, original series), the young trainer Satoshi (Red counterpart, named after Satoshi Tajiri) begins his adventure with Pikachu. Finally wins the Pokemon League and 20 years later (time skip), his son Satoru (Sun/Elio/[whatever] counterpart, named after Satoru Iwata) starts his journey in Alola (Pkmn S&M newest series) with Mimikkyu/"Pikaboo", because they wanna be the very best, like Satoshi and Pikachu.
