Bug ALMOST got away with not having a single shitty design.And I should add that although Johto doesn't have any Pokemon listed here (besides babies and Pikaclones), its Pokemon are abysmally boring and average with a few exceptions.

Not seeing the problem with Jigglypuff or Wigglytuff. They're a bit generic, but they're not offensively bad looking, and the former did its job as a balloon Pokemon pretty well, with its death animation in Stadium deflating and its singing-based ability being like letting air out of a balloon. They're definitely not as good as Clefairy's line if what you're looking for is a fairy representation, but they're still better than plenty of other cutemons.

Nah. Emboar is based off of Zhu Bajie. It fits the same design philosophy as Infernape, and the patterns on its body contribute to that design.
Hoopa is a cute tiny djinn. Its body is composed of circular wisps because it's a ghost, and the only line on its body is the V on its chest, which fits with its design as it's a seal which opens up whe it goes Unbound. It's design fits the idea of a playful little imp genie, and there is really nothing "unnecessary" about it.

And, still, nah. The details are put into its design because it's Zhu Bajie. No matter how many times you scream and cover your ears, it's the truth, and it fits well with what they're trying to convey. A big, golden-plated angry pig demon king.
If you had said Mega Sharpedo, then sure, because it's got "battle scars" which are just yellow stickers in the end. But the golden accents actually fit the designs that Emboar and Hoopa are going for.
