For whoever thinks Roothoot actually was the prediction of Rowlet, which of the two following situations seem most probable?
one fake starter, among many of which had been made, coincidentally turned out to fit the name of a poke that leaked roughly 6 weeks later, and was then revived since people knew it would be easy to use
or
from an unknown source, allegedly 2chan, a pokemon was leaked, only as a drawing that had the right typing and colors, but details like eyes, shape, beak and color distribution and even angle/stance of the pokemon was completely wrong, for some sort of reason

The japanese names were copyrighted, like 20 people made a Grass Bird/Fire Cat/Water thing combo, and Deviantart users were amazed and thought everyone was psychic afterwards.
Roothoot was one of them, except one of the ones passed off as a fake leak, from a group that didn't even get the cat part right no less.

The animal and color palate were correctly "guessed", I say Roothoot was half a leak, a little too similar to be a shot in the dark.
I think SOMEHOW the description of Rowlet got put out there and someone drew Roothoot to the description. Sort of like those magazine interpretations of the Gen 2 dex that were drawn from the leaked sprites back in the day.

first known mention of Roothoot is from march, first leak of the names are from April, so Roothoot clearly came first
What i'm saying, is that Roothoot was just one among 1000 at first, nothing special, but when the names leaked, some people decided to bring back the owl because it fit one of the names, which would inevitably result in a shitstorm later
There were no predictions, it was just some people using what had already been done, with new info, for the setup of a future shitstorm
