You now realize Ash's Pikachu is actually a Mew in disguise.
1. Pikachu doesn't evolve, because the Thunder Stone would have no effect on Mew.
2. Pikachu doesn't use a Pokeball. You know the only other Pokemon who doesn't use a Pokeball? Mewtwo.
3. Pikachu can understand any Pokemon, just like a Mew would understand.
4. Mew only appears to trainers who are pure of heart. Ash's "Pikachu" only started to like Ash when Ash saved "Pikachu" from the Spearow flock. Mew is attached to Ash because of Ash's selflessness.
5. At the start of every new anime season, why is Pikachu so weak after all these years? The Mew is limited by the restraints of the wild Pikachu it transformed into. Mew never "levels up." Therefore, sometimes Mew can outsmart the other Pokemon, and other times Mew (as Pikachu) loses very easily against unfamiliar Pokemon.
