The dub usually takes the first letter of a characters name and Americanizes it if it isn't a game character.
Masato became Max. Hazuki became Harrison. Tetsuya became Tyson. Masamune became Morrisson. This happened fairly often.
Likewise Shuu became Drew because its prounonced similar and Drew is an american name.
