Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, if we're being honest.
Out of the main games, ORAS and XY are about the same quality. I'd say go with ORAS if you haven't visited Hoenn yet otherwise go with XY.

Depends on what you're looking for. Platinum through BW2 are generally considered some of the best in the series. Standalone, I'd say get Platinum or HGSS. Both of them are very well received.
Consesus on BW and BW2 is pretty split; there's only new pokemon until post-game and the story is more serious than other titles. I'd personally say BW2 is the best in the series, but you'll miss out on some good content, like Memory Link, if you skip BW.

Seconding Explorers of Sky. Best in the entire Pokemon franchise, IMHO.
It also has a ton of spritework and official artwork that fits 100% in /comfy/.
