Who's the better Fire/Flying Pokémon between those two in your opinion? And why?

Competitively it's hard to say, but overall Charizard's probably the better. Charizard X is arguably the best OU pokemon in the game, with Charizard Y being absolutely fantastic in both OU and VGC. The only thing holding it back is it needing a Mega, technically limiting it to teams designed around it, but with such fantastic utility and versatility that's hardly a problem.
Talonflame's easier to put on a team as it doesn't require a Mega, but it does come with similar costs. Still, it's fucking amazing too. They're both really great pokemon, top notch.

Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur were all tanks. You looked at them and you knew they were the final form of some Pokémon. The adults. The big boys. From Gen II onwards they got smaller and smaller. Now look at that fucking Greninja. Blastoise would rape that thing.

Please. If Charizard was something revealed in gen 7, you'd be sucking it's dick along with everyone else while comparing it to the worthless nostalgia fueled gen 1 talonflame.
Nobody would use talonflame without gale wings (in battle), just like nobody (good) used charizard in recent gens until it got its mega.
all that aside, their designs aren't that comparable anyways besides the fact that they share the same typing. I like charizards design more, but I also think reptiles are cooler than birds. I actually can't think of many bird pokemon I like that much besides hawlucha.

it's because both talon and flame are nouns which makes it sound silly.
something vile and plume are fine together because the former describes the latter. Geo + dude is similar in that dude is described by geo, but yes its also a lazy name and got a pass because gen 1 had nothing to compare itself to at the time.

Depends. On smogon/6v6 Talonflame is better. But in battle spot singles and doubles, zard is much more unpredictable and can handle rock and water types much better then smogonbird. Y in particular can mess up rain and sand teams that give talonflame trouble. Z on the other hand runs over rocky helmet garchomp and can set up on cress as well. The suicidal bird isn't bad, but it's very well prepared for at this point, and since its checks can also fuck with Megakhan, it isn't as useful as it should be.
