My competitive friend loved Ariados, at least through gen 4, as his favorite bug type. I used it in my playthrough of X, it was alright. I used it in Crystal as well, and it was definitely a better bug back then. I think it looks cool.
I use it as an anti-ghost on my mono bug thanks to Sucker Punch. The other two moves are pretty much filler.
