Lets talk about leagues long past shall we?
First lets start with the league that started it all, the indigo league (EP075-80). For some reason this league is the most forgotten and I don't really know why, it was pretty hype.
But I'm pretty sure I know why people dislike this league.

Since we are getting the SM Anime in November what are you looking foward to see? For me is the following:

4. A more interesting and visually exciting main goal for the companions. Even contests were far more engaging than Serena's goal.
5. Improved animation or at least in the same level as XY.
6. I don't know if this can be possible but i would like a Rival who fights Ash everytime kind of like Paul, Trip and Shota but with more or the same experience.

Kanto was dark times. While I do agree his loss was definitely illegitimate, Ash was such a horrible trainer back then that he would have just gotten beaten by a better trainer anyway. He was super cocky, never made any decent effort to train his Pokémon, a majority of his badges were won out of pity, his battling strategies were overtly simplistic and were regularly exposed as such whenever Ash wasn't given any plot armor. I used to think that Ash rarely evolving his Pokémon back then was strictly a marketing decision, but now I think it was at least partially because he was intentionally being written as an amateur trainer. It wasn't until after the Indigo League that he would start breaking out of these characterizations and start making strides toward becoming a great trainer. Just compare Ash back then to who we have now. He's really come a long way.

Diantha. Her best feat if demolishing Wikstorm's Mega Scizor in one hit with a move that has a type disadvantage. Diantha needs more battle feats against legendaries, but we know that Mega Gardevior should be stronger than 50% Zygarde at the very least. Only reason why I rank her below Cynthia is because Base Garchomp = Genies, and I doubt Base Gardevior = 50% Zygarde. If Cynthia has a mega ring (and she probably does), then she'd beat Diantha.
