Cheesed it out by putting it to sleep with Jynx and used Fake Tears on it until I could break through it.
Sky's Hippowdon in Pokemon Sky.
Curse Hippowdon with Slack Off.
I had no water or grass attackers, and I boxed my only toxic user.

Seriously, her Gardevoir mutilated my lvl100 Hydreigon, oh my god. And her Tyrantrum? It means business. You have no idea how much Head Smash does until it hurts your Talonflame, even after using Brave Bird on it. It's scary.

Fighting Brock in Pokemon Red as a child with Charmander as the starter, a Nidoran, Pidgey and Rattata, and not knowing about Butterfree being useful. I didn't know what to do so I had to grind up to Charmeleon before I could even manage to beat him.
Then the next Gym's entirely water types.
Can't say I've ever struggled against any gym leader. The only main time things got heated was against Morty back in Gold/Silver, his Haunter and Gengar outsped everything I had and always hit with Hypnosis no matter how many times they used it.

Whitney isn't super threatening. During a challenge run, I overprepared for a Mareep solo.
Clair is a bit of a bitch though.
Another challenge run had far too much issues with Cynthia's Milotic.
Clair in Crystal, but I was seriously underleveled on purpose and needed to hit multiple low accuracy moves while not receiving any crits or paralysis from Dragon Breaths.

I beat him first time with a fucking Nincada using its typing to block Shockwave and Sand Attack to stop Sonicboom, then slowly scratched it to death. Best gym battle ever.
