Let's put it this way. If she finds him before, Ash will very likely be an asshole to her to add tension to the episode. But then it would make the pacing feel weird because she would go look for him, get upset and leave him, and then go look for again shortly after.

The only redeeming factor is that it features a Shiny Pokémon which is kinda rare in the anime, but otherwise the episode is completely pointless. Such a waste of an episode when XY&Z already is strained on episode count compared to what it still has to do in time for SM.
