Yeah, the shadow that you took out implies that the hooves are part of the legs.
if it is a dog, as far as breeds go, it does look like some sort of spitz breed. maybe a corgi/pomeranian mix. and the color doesn't really match any of the coat colors accepted as a breed standard for shiba inus. plus I feel like the fur would have been designed a bit differently if it had shiba like coat

I'm sure it doesn't. All I did was use the thinnest line tool, draw two lines next to eachother and fill them out with the bucket tool. I almost always do outlines like this.

Growlithe and Arcanine are based off of those dog-tiger-lion guardian statues. Manectric is a wolf, specifically based off of the mythological Raijū that could turn into a blue wolf wreathed in lightning.

Poochyena is clearly based off of a dog though, so it's not entirely off base to suggest Mighyena might have elements of a wolf to it.

I was making a joke about the zodiac theory. I still believe it I just think it's pretty loose. It's clearly a fox but they do put emphasis on it chewing sticks which is pretty dog-like and doesn't make sense thematically until it evolves.
