I'm not familiar with Spanish so I won't judge, but I have a friend who watches it with Spanish subs and whenever someone from English-speaking forums is unsure of what was said in a certain scene, she is the one to explain because she watched it with Spanish subs.
But I do speak Portuguese and there was one Brazilian fansite which used to made subs available the day after the ep aired in Japan, and it was pretty darn good.

They're guess subs. It's a mess of original and localized names, some of them translated as they were heard (like "Mirfy" for Millefeui), and sometimes they even fail to write the words in spanish correctly. Thankfully for the ones who watch those subs, Pokemon isn's that heavy on dialogue and you can kinda get the basic idea of what the characters are speaking about if you have watched subbed anime before.
There is a group who translates PM subs to spanish (I don't know if Adamant knows about them), so we actually wait MORE time for correct subs than the rest. That is, if one is illiterate enough to not know how to read english subs.

What makes you think that Ash will lose? This is the first season of the anime where we see champions and E4 members taking battles seriously, struggling, and even LOSING to ace trainers like Ash and Alain. Previous seasons have always painted the E4 as an unsurmountable wall for Ash and as gods, but now they're vulnerable. If they didn't want Ash to win, then they wouldn't do a complete 180 when it comes to the characterization of the E4 and the champs.
Keep in mind that Ash did better against Diantha than Wikstrom, who had a fucking type advantage.

I don't think anyone knew what a "filler" was in the Kanto season. Back then you were just watching Pokemon. People didn't start to classify fillers till Johto came along because people started to notice all the pointless eps with nothing happening.

No, I mean the pacing in general. We went from a stretch of 32 episodes where SOMETHING happened every episode, Ash had been to 6 gyms, in episode 33 he set off for the Safari Zone and spent two episodes dicking around in the Safari Land until he got there in 35 and caught some new Pokemon... then the next episode is one where nothing really happens and no one mentions any gyms or anything. Not the next one either. Or the one after that. People went from "some progress to the journey every episode" to "two straight months of random pointless adventure of the day".
At that point you might even think the show had been retooled and the entire badge quest had just been written out.

Look at mid-Johto. Mountain Time-Howl of the Houndoom (excluding Mewtwo Returns which is a special and not an episode).
Most of the mid-Johto eps had literally nothing happening in them. That's when people started getting really bored of Johto.

Trouble With Snubbull isn't filler, anon, it's the conclusion of that subplot.
Also aside from stuff like Brock's Zubat evolving (which literally nobody cared about), most Johto eps have nothing happening with the pokemon on the cast either. Ash only had one evolution the entire saga (Chikorita), and Misty/Brock only captured 1 new pokemon each the entire arc, Pineco and Corsola.
