I believe there putting more emphasis on real world elements. I.e airports, taxis, subways, motels, jobs etc. These will connect with the over world of the games such as fast travel and earning money easier.

Think of these games as a reboot. Yes, another one. They've been working these for 3 years now. There's a heavy theme of exploration and conspiracy, with a dash of astronomy (for obvious reasons). Also, yes. There is pandering to Gen 1 again. A LOT of subtle references sprinkled everywhere. The plot, though, seems like a new concept
