When undergoing the synchronisation that Greninjash has access to, Ash can feel/share the pain of attacks it recieves. What you're seeing here, my lad, is Ash taking a dragon claw from a Mega-Charizard X, that has had experience fighting the elite 4, and wrecking other megas in general. Why is Ash such a Gary Stu this time around in the anime? It's like the writers acknowledged the criticisms about Best Wishes, but went way too overboard and instead of making Ash look like an incompetent jackass, give him a bunch of overpowered Pokémon and hardly lose any battles while everyone just sucks his dick. His "rivals" are a complete joke, and Serena has been one of the worst companions for him. If Misty was still around, she would at least give Ash a backbone and not just blindly worship the ground he walks on.

I'm curious to see where Serena goes in the post-League season, if one will even exist, because I find her team really underwhelming.
Like I get that she's not really a trainer, but I always thought the coolest thing about May is that by her most-recent appearance, she had a tighter team composition than even Ash, with a Blaziken, Venusaur, Wartortle and Glaceon, which composed of almost entirely FEs.
There was a sense of development there, and even Dawn herself is no slouch with a Mamoswine, Togekiss and Quillava. As of now the most impressive thing Serena has is a Sylveon, and we all know Braixen will never evolve unless Delphox gets a Mega Evolution that resembles Braixen.
Interestingly, Iris herself hasn't had an obligatory "post-season meet up" with Ash like the other three girls have, the only thing she's done so far is catch an underwhelming Gible from some special.
