I don't have any problem with the 70 or so Pokemon released last gen. I think this is a good thing. I don't want them to feel forced to pump out 100+ uninspired half assed mons. I thought gen 6 was overall very good. The problem with having these kinds of quotas, including having to have an early route dog cat or bird, is it promotes half assed forced designs. And then you have pikaclones. This is full fucking cringe. It is bad works building to have such a dispoportionate amount of pokemon that all look like they are the evolutionary line an almost nearly all the same animal or very similar animal and all have the same moves. We encountered a similar problem in gen 4 and 5 where we had all these dumb legendaries and gf trying to outdo itself in numbers and edge. I wish they'd leave pikachu alone, let it be unique, stop these dumb quotas and design whatever inspires them. Do we need birds in every region, of course, birds are everywhere IRL...we don't necessarily need a new one for gen 7, 8, and 9...unless the designers had great inspiration to make a new one. Imo
