Charizard X didn't have a scratch on it after crashing into a mountain after meteor mash but it's crazy to think it wasn't damaged. XY Ash is mostly based off of Red than Calem. The only similarity to Calem is that he wear blue, but everything else is Red if you look at his shoes, pants, hat, short sleeve shirt instead of sweater, poses in promo art, etc.
Then again Ash's OS out was also based off Gen 1 Red, but the biggest difference is that Ash wore blue. Ash has always been a "blue Red." XY Ash is to OS Ash as FRGL Red is to RBY Red. It's kinda like an updated design.

It's a weird situation. On one hand, her words and personality make it seem like she was teasing. On the other, she did try to finish him off with crunch which was Houndoom's strongest move. Houndoom was still trying to crunch him despite blast burn happening too so it's not like it was playing around.
Maybe she didn't fight as smartly as she could by keeping her distance because Charizard's strongest moves are more effective up close but in that moment, she seemed intent on taking down Charizard like she's gotten tired of her toy. Blast burn just exceeded her expectation which made her exclaim that she can't believe its power.
