Nah, referencing is fine (as long as you aren't attempting to copy artwork line for line.) If it wasn't okay, drawing from life would be frowned upon lol.
Technically, tracing isn't the end of the world nor the worst thing you can do (it's cool for practice, but best to keep it to yourself), but you don't learn anything from it and it takes no real effort. It's even worse if you're tracing shit for money, which is what bottom-left anon does.

You are aware "Tracing" gets you a better paying job then being an artist right? Digitizers trace phot shots all the time for thier products and advertisement. Its no9t suddenly plagarism to trace an object infront of you.

Yeah, except this is an anonymous board, not for a career or project. I'd like to believe that the people in these threads who are seeing these images can appreciate the pictures that take effort and laugh at the tracing bullshit.

God damn it, what was supposed to be an quick tea and bread with some relatives I've never seen before turned into an 8 hour stretch of having to keep them company. At least I beat my cousin's ass in smash.
I'm sad, this will be the last contribution I make before I go somewhere without internet, and I regret not knowing about this thread before; I had only just joined in the beginning of December and have only contributed ~9 pokemon. And for being a non-artist, I've improved a shit ton.
MS Paint Guy, you're doing an excellent job and we're all thankful for doing this everyday. Is it too late for this to get added to the archives?

It actually looks fine for what it is, which is a proof of how easy it is to trace. The only difference between this and bottom left guy's work is some lazily done shading and highlights, and the fact that the lineart is hastily done (because this is was anon's proof, and nothing more). The proportions and anatomy are great.
