Puppet Thread
Ask what's the best style for your puppets here
I had my satori assist but i deeply sorry for that now. wobbufet was perhaps fun in gen 2, but now puppets keep using weird skills and food rations doesn't help.
i got my tenshi to d tenshi (cuz in my mind shes a big M, also, i had yamame so pure ground wasn't favorable cover-wise) but since my previous playtrough tenshi was also a d i feel a little bored with her.
i guess im gonna catch those 2 again.
So is this better or worse than Pokemon

Well, this is awkward
>>24852554
Pretty much all of the tedium in building your team both during the story and in post-game is dramatically less bullshit and most 2hus are at least viable so it's more about picking your favorites rather than being forced into what's useful.
Everything else is generally pretty straight-forward Pokemon with a more aggressive meta, great music and adorable as fuck.

Dude, admit it, current pokemon has SHIT postgame.
>>24852554
in some ways yes, in some ways no.
the dungoens here actually feel like mazes. this could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing, depending on your pov
there are very few actual shitmons around, meaning that no matter what you take your team can be powerfull... depending on you, the trainer.
you don't have to calculate ev. you can use points you earn in battle (similiar to exp) to give whatever evs to whatever mons.
able to relearn old moves easily
hms are now items, no need for an hm slave
the list goes on...
the bad stuff? netplay. hard to find a match. only available postgame. no trading (yet). some puppets level up way faster than others, and exp share is inbuild and can't be turned off.
overall fun. nice way to become a touhoufag-i also only cared about touhou only after playing touhoumon. join us :)

or ice. or dark. or void. or nether.
>Nether is a shit type
RIP Yuyuko you were my favorite
>>24852866
Power Yuyuko is still a very good bulky offense anon, she's #23 on the JP usage chart right now.
She's also very happy, don't you want to keep her happy?
>>24852848
Void is normal, most weaker characters as far as lore goes are void, as well as pure humans. Of course, this has exceptions.
Nether are dead themselves, or directly related to it, spirits or those who interact with them. Orin and Okuu both are in the former hell, but only the former can have Nether typing, she's the one to handle the spirits and bodies, both can fire though.
Hell in Touhou is actually the usual fiery depiction, and ice isn't even a type.
Dark is more reserved for the the darkness loving, as well as many based on the more known youkai, like the vampires. Also a few of what is considered "dark magic".
I'd say CP's typing should be fire/illusion.
>>24852875
One of her styles will likely be fire/illusion, especially now that there are 3 of them.
>>24852875
Given her ability to drive people insane she might get the new type if the translation of Chaos is right.
>>24852875
Yeah, she has the power of making people fell in madness , so a new style is very likely to be Fire/Illusion (considering that Reisen also has a similar power and is Illusion type).
>>24852875
>trying to go lore-wise
the faries in lolk are purified, they are pure forces of nature, of life and death
she should either be pure nature or pure light.
btw, the ruler of makai is illusion type.
I want to know Doremy typing
>>24852866
It's only resisted by one type, so it's actually pretty good on the offense.
And the nature of the meta helps with defense. Dark is hampered by ever-present steel threats and light is NVE against quite a few types, making it an unpopular attacking type.
Power Yuyuko's typing covers the light weakness anyways.

Didn't you just do the same? Typings take a lot of shit into account, the abilities, appearence, what lore the character is based on and spellcards even.
You can see lunarians, also pure beings, don't share a theme of typing, for instance.
She has a torch, is based on a figure whose man trait is carrying such torch, both related to fire and has skills related to madness.I don't get why mention Shinki out of nowhere.
>>24852936
>Didn't you just do the same?

>>24853096
Are you implying that's bad?
It takes more skill to grind apart the opponent's team with predicting switches and knowing when to deploy statuses and hazards and knowing HOW to wall a given threat than it does to just press the giant "KILL" button on your AyaP or SukunaD and watch something on the other side go down into the dirt. Especially when you have so few tools to do so and so many things to cover; it makes Gen 6 stall look easy in comparison.

>>24853603
So what does the hold item do?

Yep, just tried it myself, same results. Here's hoping you're right about it changing throughout the game.

>>24853644

So is it only your starter that follows you or the puppet in your first slot? Can you even reach catching other puppets in the demo?
>>24853655

Just confirmed, any puppet that's in your first slot.
Also, she has different responses, which also means there is in fact a happiness meter.
>>24853161

>>24853682
Oh, and also of note, that puppet normally wasn't here in route 1, which is yet another thing confirmed: Encounter zones have been changed.

>>24853688

Starter now also starts off with this item held onto them, whatever the hell it is.
It isn't the special heart-mark-only item because I can put it on other puppets that don't have the mark on their info.
>>24853688
Makes sense they gotta shove the new-hus somewhere, and given there additions are a fairly big feature I doubt all of them will be in the late game.
At the very least Blue Reisen and Worst Beatle will be in the Bamboo Forest probably.
>>24853694
>That face
she is still angry with the seija's puppets.
>>24853714
I think she's just indifferent in general.
>>24853710
Maybe you can give it to other puppets without the heart mark but it won't boost them without it?
>>24853719
All puppets seem to start off with the "I don't give a shit" reactions when you first catch them, unsurprisingly.
>>24853723
Then why does your starter STILL not give a shit?
>>24853722
It has no change on the info menu so I can't see any way to tell what it does.
Also, it seems that styles and puppets present in the base game have in fact received some changes, it's not just the new type and styles.
That ability on Momiji seems to be new, judging by the "HP 1/3" not being related to any of her original abilities, unless perhaps it's just fair & square that got reworked to change the health threshold on it.
>>24853729
Your starter gives slightly more of a shit.
Fresh puppets do a black fuzzy, a ... and a sleepy face.
Starter does !, ? , MG and the little wiggly face.
>>24853741
Wait, ALL puppets can MG, not just Ringo?
>>24853748
Yup, my Momiji does it too, but freshly caught ones don't.
Seems to just be a standard "Eh, I kinda like you" stage.

Yes I just had Blue Reisen here MG. Also she's a dual type but I forget which colors mean what.
>>24853764

Looks like other puppets are in the world now too, perhaps there may be some story-relevant puppets to talk to in the game instead of it being exclusively legitimate 2hus.
Can't reach the Nazrin to see what she says though.

Or at least I don't remember this being here.
I've spied various minor changes along the way as well, errything's getting revamped.
Seems interacting with puppets in the world just has them give back standard little emoticon responses, there's also a Kokoro(?) in town that just does a little sweatdrop instead.
>>24853973
That is not Kokoro, is one of the aki sisters, the one everyone draws with big boobs.

>TFW your female gardevoir randomly hugs you.
After bullying the baka squad into submission, Akyuu guides you around town a bit to talk to some dudes and then takes you towards the gate to supposedly carry on, but it looks like the demo ends here because it looked like she told the gatekeeper guy to let me through but he's still being a little shit about it.
Can also talk to the library chick and she can plot dump on you now unlike her being completely useless in the base game.
I'm shit at remembering 2hu names, sue me.
>>24854045
Daily reminder that this girl will become a youkai and Reimu will bullshit anything to no kill her, then Tanuki's bitch with use this information to blackmail Reimu into letting her do what she wants.
>>24854064
She appears now too when Akyuu takes you to go talk to library chick, in what looks to be her human disguise form thing, I'm not overly well versed in 2hu and I also didn't take a picture of it.
She seems to have some decent plot relevance.

It looks like it's actually maybe a combination of two different types? The little block for it is split between two colors, but maybe that's just simply how the new type is represented.
>>24854134
that might be just how it's represented. A little weird, but Gen 3 and 4 had that too.
>>24854127
We did know there was going to be a new type so it's probably that.
>>24854134
A few existing types already do that, void and dream are both pink but dream has two-tones.
On the subject of dream types here's Doremy.
>>24854151
>>24854160
Huh, oh well, thanks.
>>24854160
so I'm assuming she's neutral to everything? Does she get any new Dream moves?
What about Sumireko? Is she Void or Dream?
>>24854180
Just because dream is neutral against everything offensively doesn't mean it's neutral against everything defensively.
I'm not about to slam Doremy's head into every attack I can find though to find out.
I suppose Dream and Chaos will be weak to each other
>>24854199
Couldn't really do that even if you wanted to anyways, there's extremely little type variance in the beta area.
>>24854165
>that Doremy
Being this smug should be illegal
>>24853807
>she is poison
>nobody wants to talk with her, cause she says anything the other way around she wants.
Like I like you, turns into fuck you faggot I hate you, kinda like that.
So yeah would makes sense she is poisonous, cancerous.
Aha i found the shitposter's waifu.
>>24854180
Sumireko is Chaos/Void.
>>24854230
Worth noting she starts with an attack that inflicts poison and can be stacked to inflict badly poisoned. At the start of the fucking game.
>>24854240
Trainer has longer trousers now.
>>24854265
Okay, I was wrong.
>>24854264
Aww man i was looking forward to use her, maybe she get some veno drench attacks.

>>24854165
Fuck clownpiece. All hail Doremy.
wait a second
are people replaying the game via demo?
>>24854347
Still not Doremy.
>>24854365
No we're messing around in the demo to see what little changes we can see and mess around with the new puppets.
>>24854369
Replied to the wrong post.
>>24854365
There's a demo out for the new expansion coming later this month.
>>24852774
>>24854085
Rarest pepe
>>24853889
That would be nice. It seems a waste that every single attack is danmaku-based. I know it's Touhou, but it's not like the fighters (which had the same perspective as these battles) didn't have physical attacks. It's weird to have a sword-wielding puppet only ever use it to hold in front of her while shooting bullets.
>>24854483
Well, from what I saw in the demo it still didn't actually change any of the animations or anything, it's still just shooting various bullets.
My momiji had wintry wind and the ripper that both had a different variable on the supposed contact statistic but they both still just lobbed sword bullets / shot wind bullets same as always.
Doesn't seem like there's ever going to be any kind of skill that involves a puppet directly hitting another one.
>>24854508
they're uncommon, but I know that at least burn strike involves on-screen contact
>>24854549
Just checked myself and ehh, yeah, guess that does count.
Not exactly on par with actually hitting them with your sword but it's something.
Few questions:
Is it possible to if you grind hard enough in the demo to get to level 30 and the style change? If so...
What types hit for SE/NVE on Chaos? Does it have any immunities?
Is the Dream type still a "neutral to and against everything" deal even though puppets can have it now?
>>24854694
Oh god we're going to rip this thing apart like we did the ORAS demo
>>24854694
We really don't have enough data in the demo to make determinations about Chaos or Dream, there's simply not enough type variety to do enough testing.
All we can really confirm is that Doremy does get STAB from Yin/Yang strike which isn't a bad thing to have given nothing resists it.
>>24854694
There is far too little type variance in the demo to test more than a couple of types, especially when I think only the baka squad fights actually have typed attacks.
There doesn't seem to be anything stopping you from leveling that I've seen so far, but it'd be slow as shit.
>>24854702
Don't mention ORAS, i am still mad over no battle frontier.
>>24854710
Why not hack it open? The developers might be better at dummying out things than GF was, but we could still learn things a bit earlier than otherwise. Even just using Cheat Engine to try and force different encounters to see what would happen?
>>24854721
I suppose with a cheat engine to accelerate time one could level up to 30. But yeah even then it'd take forever.
Also I haven't played the early game in forever but was this room always blocked off early game?
>>24854735
Why not just use Cheat Engine to hack the level to 100 and then style change?
>>24854735
I think it was just empty originally, but I'm not positive. Isn't that where Marisa first takes you to talk with Sanae?
There's a whole bunch of changes already visible in the demo area so I wouldn't doubt that's new.
>>24854483
>>24854508
Well, the symbol just says "classification", so that's not a lot of help. Could be a physical/magical thing that works in the same context as contact if BU stands for 物理, but I'm not sure what that would make EN.
>>24854753
You're likely right, on my team in the beta Momiji's The Ripper skill is the only attack that has BU on it, everything else is either some kind of danmaku / fancy magic attack and is EN where Ripper is hitting them with throwing swords.
>>24854745
Yeah that is just the room you have the conversation with Sanae and Marisa, and where you fought Marisa in the original.
Kinda weird they'd block it off...
>>24854702
>>24854734
>>24854744
It's a fairly reasonable assumption not all the content is in the demo, the expansion demo is notably a smaller file size than the original full game.
Has anyone been able to extract the demo's assets?
>>24854816
Obviously, but there will still be leftovers of things that weren't dummied out completely; ORAS did that and we still learned everything about things like Hoopa-A or the BSTs of the new forms
>>24854753
Just went and caught a Keine with hammer throw which is also a pretty straightforward hit-them-with-an-object physical attack and it's also BU alongside The Ripper.
You're definitely on the right track.
>>24854710
>>24854694
Dream is the first row/column, Chaos is last.
>>24854867
WE DREAMS NOW
>>24854867
Well that answers that.
Sure isn't much to say about dream. Chaos seems pretty solid, hits SE against steel and wind which are both very big types but hits NVE and gets hit SE against fight which is a pretty hefty drawback.
>>24854867
Whats the type between WInd and Light?
>>24854867
>Chaos nulls wind
I get they needed to balance it, but they could've picked a better name for that.
>>24854867
Well hopefully Doremy doesn't shitty stats then.
Dunno what to think about Chaos though...
>>24854881
Electric.
>>24854881
Electric.
>>24854867s
So the type chart is being overhauled then, got it.
Notable things:
Chaos offensively is super effective against steel, wind, and illusion, and NVE against dark, poison, fighting, and itself.
Defensively, it resists steel and itself and is IMMUNE TO WIND (AKA SMASH SPIN, AKA ENTRY HAZARDS ARE VIABLE NOW) but is weak against Poison, Fighting, and Sound.
Looks like the rest of the type chart is the same; Dream is still neutral to everything so if there are any good offensive dream types that could be disgusting
I hope they add some cool new dream type moves. Imagine giving a dream type outrage that no one can even resist to Doremy.
>>24854867
Actually, there is a second pretty big difference:
Remember how Nether was the king of offensive types because only Light resisted it?
GUESS WHO JUST TRADED IN HER ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FOR NETHER RESISTANCE
Sound is now weak to Electric but resists Nether. RAIKO BUFF CONFIRMED 10/10
Does Nue's illusion work on AI?
>>24854950
>Nether was the king of offensive types because only Light resisted it?
it didnt hit anything SE except for itself
it's like the dragon type except it doesn't have an outrage ie. mediocre
>>24854950
Look forward to an electric 2hu getting an extra style that makes it the new AyaP.
>>24854980
Anyone who uses AyaP has a special place in hell just for them.
>>24854901
Yeah, Chaos is definitely the analogue to Fairy in Pokemon in how it was created to make the good types worse but the worse types better; it was a mixed bag in that regard (Fighting types and Dragon types died off, but Dark became even more popular with the rise in Ghost types and the loss of Fighting types, and Steel didn't budge a bit because it still resisted and hit for SE)
Chaos is the same way, although the fact that fighting rips it to pieces is a bit worrying given that UtsuhoS is #1 in the usage charts.
>>24854950
Oh come on, what was wrong with Nether that they had to make Sound resist it
>>24854992
>Dragon types died off
No, only the shitty ones did. Garchomp and Dragonite are still great in OU, M-Salamence got quickbanned to ubers and Mega Rayquaza is stronger than RBY mewtwo.
>>24854867
P Elly is now NU
>>24855010
>Bans
Fuck that shit, keep it away from touhoumon.
>>24854972
That's what I mean; in terms of what resisted and what was weak to it it was a perfect parallel to Gen 5 or earlier Dragon: SE against only itself, resisted only by the most defensive type in the game (Light). The big things that made it not as good as Dragon was the fact that there weren't many high BP moves for nether types to spam (there's the Double Edge equivalent and then everything else is BP80 or lower), and more importantly the fact that they didn't tend to have drastically higher BSTs than the competition (note how the majority of good dragons are BST 600 or higher).
>>24854992
I guess they wanted a failsafe against Nether types while also making Sound not just a slightly different Electric defensively. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sound rise in viability a lot as it hits Chaos for SE while Chaos types can cover the wind weaknesswhich is good because that means more Raiko
>>24854992
Nether could potentially be very strong, but the characters that do get its typing don't have the tools to make it as brutal as it could be, either through stats or movesets. (I'd say the exception is Mima). For instance, Yuyuko's best nether move is fucking ghost wave, she's better as a nature type than nether.
If they did give them better moves, maybe with skillcards, then I could've seen nether being overwhleming, but as it is, it's fine.Seriously, why does almost no one gets fucking Starving Spirit? So many nether puppets are just begging for it.
>>24855076
I doubt anyone has tested it, anon
>>24854867
Very nice, as expected the new type is essentially a balancing force. Kinda clever how they can rationalize the choices with chaos (it's chaotic I don't gotta explain shit)
>>24855090
Hopefully the new extra styles add some good options
>>24854867
>dream type
dude, gengetsu and mugetsu are now half dream type o remain the same?
Clarste has been playing the game it seems. Here's some info he posted:

distortion == chaos
>Seiran: Non/Lightning Type; Ability A: Warning Shot - Reduces enemy S. Attack when deployed; B: Ballistic Correction - increases S. Attack and S. Defense by 50% in Calm weater
>Ringo: Nature Type; A: Sympathize - Immune to Distortion, when hit by a Distortion attack recover from abnormal status; B: Super-Recover - Heals 30% more from absorption effects
>Doremy: Dream Type(!); A: Yang Disposition - reduces damage from lightning, light, and illusion, inreases speed when hit; B: Yin Dosposition - ditto for darkness, nether, and poison
>Sagume: Poison Type; A: Reverse Effect - Enemy buffs are reversed; B: See Through - Enemy abilities don't change damage done
>Clownpiece: Fire Type; A: Confuses opponent when hit by a focus skill; B: Reduces damage taken from super-effective skills
>Junko: Light/Distortion Type; A: Embodiment of Revenge - Shoot back when killed by a skill of power 70 or greater; B: Unreasonable - Enemy skills cost double SP
>Hecatia: Non-type; A: Sixth Sense - Warns you when the opponent has a super-effective skill; B: Tension Up - Increase S. Attack when hit by an invalid attack
>Sumireko: Distortion/Typeless; A: Telescopic - Increase hit by 30%; B: Sixth Sense

>>24854986
Yeah, AyaP is now even more disgusting; most wind types like FutoS will drop in popularity thanks to Wind being weak to and doing nothing against Chaos; AyaP is still neutral and can rip them to pieces thanks to her secondary Fighting type.
Seriously, WEAK to Fighting when 3 of the top 5 in the usage charts are part Fighting type (AyaP, UtsuhoS, and SakuyaP)? It might weaken SakuyaP somewhat thanks to her shitty fighting move access, but AyaP just can rip them to pieces as easily as she can anything else. Hell, with Sound now being weak to Electric, she can now hit for SE on literally everything that hits her for SE (Earth covers Steel and Electric, Fighting covers Chaos and Steel, Electric covers Wind and Sound).
BAN AYAP
>>24855215
>Dream type doesn't have any weaknesses, but it doesn't resist anything, either, so it's balanced

>>24855215
>Clarste
That guy is just all over 2hu fangames isn't he? He just helped finish translating FMW3.
>>24855242
Actually, how many types can AyaP hit for SE (obviously not all at once thanks to 4MSS, but still)
Void: Dark (Changeling)
Fire: Earth (Spirit Stone Jig)
Water: Electric (Spark Javelin, although a neutral Twister or Transcend Form will still outdamage it)
Nature: Fire (Rising Sun; while using a BP50 move is of dubious effectiveness, it does also raise speed if you want to not invest as much in Speed: one use of it and you'll still outspeed the entire metagame outside of Scarf)
Earth: Fighting (Transcend Form)
Steel: Fighting or Earth
Wind: Electric (again, a neutral Twister will outdamage Spark Javelin; it's only useful against Water/Wind types)
Electric: Earth
Light: Dark
Dark: Fighting
Nether: Dark
Poison: Earth or Wind (Twister)
Fighting: Wind
Illusion: None actually
Sound: Wind; post expansion Electric will also work but why would you use that when it's weak to Twister
Chaos: Fighting
So literally ONE type in the entire game can't be hit by AyaP for neutral, another can be hit by SE only using a BP50 move (albeit one that makes her outspeed the very few things that normally do go faster than her), and a few can be hit for SE with Electric but a neutral STAB move would usually outdo it so it's not really worth it.
Final tally, assuming a moveset of Twister/Transcend Form/Spirit Stone Jig/Changeling
The only types you WON'T be able to hit for SE are Water, Nature, and Wind, none of which resist your Wind type STAB. That's absolutely insane type coverage in just one moveset with 3/4 of the moves being over BP120, and the last one switching you out after use to fuck the opponent over even further.

>>24855301
Good thing she's weak to SR, needs Upbeat to actually deal with bulky stuff, needs Life Orb to actually kill things, and has a habit of losing 5/8 of her HP to random Small Bits. Still a good mon, but she's only really a pain when paired with King's Rock.
Also, Speed Iku also eats up all her common moves and is very easy to splash on a team.
Where can I find Iku?
>>24855374
http://162.208.49.218/wiki/List_of_puppets_by_location
Genbu Ravine.
>>24855301
AyaP is pretty fragile, especially to special attacks (80/70 on the physical end is okay, but 50 special defense is horrid), so you have to come in on a resisted type.
Anything with a Good Belt can completely ruin her day, as can a full-speed investment FutoS. Transcend Form can easily backfire if your opponent predicts it and switches into a Nether type or even just uses Nature Barrier (or if you hit the 10% miss chance), so using it is incredibly risky.
Most importantly, base 105 ATK is not all that high and she has no set-up moves worth using to really punish making an opponent switch. She's good at finishing off a crippled team but can't handle physical walls all that well, and anything with high defense can easily stifle her (Transcend Form can't consistently 1-shot a fully invested in defense SukunaD holding a Golden Hairpin without a boosting item or a red mark; that's a STAB BP130 move slamming into a double weakness and it has barely a 10% chance to kill if even that). Hell, outside of Changeling that entire moveset is resisted by IkuS.
She's ridiculously good and definitely one of the best puppets in the game, but she's not uncounterable and has trouble with bulky opponents in general. Hell, with Chaos types serving as smash spin blockers, you can make her pay for coming in at all by using Stealth Trap for 25% of her max HP each time she switches in and not have to worry about her running Smash Spin as much since you can punish her attempt with ease.
Also if you inflict Darkness on her she becomes completely impotent, but that's just general anti-physical advice.Joke option: Run Small Bits on a bulky puppet and enjoy watching her HP vanish in front of your eyes if she uses one of the multi-hit moves.
>>24855359
Anon, SR is pointless since everyone can get the spin. Chaos will help, but I hope we change some types since the chaos type touhous aren't ones I like.

For example, Remi's extra style is fucking water / poison when she's normally dark / wind.
>>24855387
Remember that everyone is getting an Extra stance as well; I wouldn't be surprised to see Chaos show up a good amount there.
Besides, there will probably be a new "most hated and overpowered puppet ever" to scream and rage at instead of AyaP. I can already hear the hate at Doremy's lack of weaknesses and choice between two sets of 3 very good resistances, and Sagume is basically "fuck set-up sweepers forever" because the developer apparently hates those as much as stall.

>Extra style changes the typing completely
YEAAAAAAAH! let's fuck the metagame and start again!
>>24855436
>>24855441
I think it would result in Seija always getting debuffed.
If Seija debuffs herself: Her ability turns it into a buff which then Sagume turns it into a debuff and then I doubt Seija's ability would proc a second time.
If Seija buffs herself: Then her ability just turns it into a debuff and Sagume likely doesn't do anything.
So how OP is Hecatia going to be
>>24855457
I don't think thats how it works anon. Sagume reverses enemy buffs. If Seija debuffs herself like with arclight, then she'd get the debuff as intended with Sagume as enemy. But if she uses a stat boost, she'd get the intended effect because Sagume reverses it back. Shit explaining it is kinda confusing.
>>24855474
Judging by the artist's obsession with her, very OP.

Type chart looks the same to me outside of the new Chaos type. Nether is still the game's equivalent of Dragon offensively (SE only against itself, resisted by only one other type that isn't SE back), and it's neutral to Chaos.
The only issue is that the one good nether type special attack is learned by 3 things total, of which only one is useful anyways; everyone else is stuck with garbage in comparison for STAB (unless you're Mima, in which case enjoy your not-Flare Blitz you broken as fuck thing)

>>24856448

>>24856450
Yes, the Nether types who were mostly good in SPITE of being addled with a type that had 2 moves with a BP higher than fucking 80, one of which has distribution on par with the game's equivalent to Spore, and the other of which has next to nothing capable of using it fully.
People keep comparing it to Dragon but the reality is that Nether was nowhere near as good as Dragon ever was; no Outrage equivalent, no Draco Meteor equivalent, no BST 600+ mons pouring out all over the place, nothing that could even compare to the ridiculousness of Dragons in Gen 5 and even 6.
And now they're making a second type resist it, because...why?
>>24856487
Because fuck netherhags.I really wish Seiga was atleast a bit good but her spells sucks.
>>24856487
it's more like Ghost type except shittier. Why is it not super effective against Illusion again?
>>24856487
Because having just one type resist another results in centralization; Gen 5 having it be viable to run nothing but dragons and steels is a good example of that.
So Chaos types are designed to weaken llusion (defensively; offensively Illusion is neutral against Chaos), Steel, and especially Wind, while being weak to the less common attack types of Poison, Sound, and the actually already common Fighting; Fighting types obviously will surge with their main counter being marginalized and with being the best counter to Chaos, but that in turn will result in a huge uprising of Sound types to murder them both.
Raikoanon is clearly squeeing in delight now
So what mark should I get for Reimu? Red or Blue?
Might as well find that now before I finally get that last S Rank on her.
>>24856520
Blue, but Red is also fine if you want her to have a little more omph.
>>24856514
>Because having just one type resist another results in centralization;
It demonstrably doesn't. Most Nether types just aren't that good.
>>24856560
Yeah. There's MimaP, YuyukoP, YoumuS and I think that's about it for "really notable Nether types". >>24856487 is right in how the good Nether types are good in spite of being Nether type (MimaP having Curse Return and good bulk, YuyukoP having good bulk while hard hitting and having some good Nature type moves, and YoumuS being a fast and hard-hitting Steel type that lucked into getting the top Nether attack for a secondary STAB option that unfortunately runs on special rather than physical attack)
Maybe we'll get more good Nether types to make up for it then?

I tried using CheatEngine to level to 30 in the expansion demo, but I couldn't make it work. Oh well, maybe the guys who worked on the translation patch will be able to datamine it.
>>24857206
Looks like I'm grinding some puppets out to Lv 30, then.
>>24857134
Why she says this?
For Iku what's a better mark? Black or Green?
>>24857010
is this actually viable?
>>24857354
JP usage chart has her primarily with the spread attack mark, assuming you made her power style.
>>24857474
well, she got the bulk to survive her attacks and enough power to ohko her. she got a 120bp moves for void, electric, water and fire, and the charge ability.
well, a smart aya will changeling as soon as she sees a pkoishi, but the fact she needs to run away further proves just whos the boss here.

>>24857773
Unless I fucked up the damage calc, not really, at least not without significant investment. 125BP STAB hurts like hell.
I should clarify that my definition of 'handle' is the attack doing less than 50% HP.
>>24852533
More like another unnecessary general
>>24857794
well, one hit is all koishi needs to do aya in no? with 33hp/33def/64spa
>>24857794
>>24857808
what i mean is, my definition of handle is more liberal than yours
>>24857765
Pretty sure it's assault vest, not a choice item. It doesn't lock you in. Just prevents you from using status moves.
>>24857808
yeah, one hit will wreck her hard.
And my bad mate, I must have fucked something up. With your spread AyaP is hitting for around 41.9 - 49.4%. Add a golden hairpin and you get 27.6 - 33%. Go full defense and she's doing 20.7 - 24.7% (this isn't ideal though).
>>24857864
The item description is throwing me off: "The Puppet holding this will have raised FoDef but it will not be able to use Change skills"
change skills?
>>24857882
Change skills just means status boosting moves and other types, like recovering HP, using miasma/behind you, barrier option or nature barrier.
In other words, it simply makes it so that you can only ever use a skill if it deals damage. The problem is mostly due to how the translation was made and the new terminology they used in relation to pokemon.
>>24857882
Pretty sure that's a shoddy translation of "Status changing effects", effectively it should just mean you can't use anything that doesn't directly do damage / have attack power attached to it.
>>24857882
Translators decided to use change instead of status for some mysterious reason. They've stopped doing that now but too late for this translation.
Help, the sequel to this looks better than any Pokemon game ever what is going on

Es Dream Fragment, anons.
>>24853735
That's Robust Spirit.
>>24858142
Hohoho, as I suspected.
>>24858142
What's >>24854735 say if you don't mind me asking?
>>24858142
Ah, neat, someone to finally translate those pictures, thanks anon.
Starting with the dream fragment probably explains why my Momiji was suddenly demolishing everything right out of the gate.
Kind of a shame about the ability change though, telescopic and fair & square were both great abilities on her. At least her kit can synergize with robust spirit pretty well so it's aight.
>>24858153
Fair & Square might have been moved to one of her Styles. It was a pain to run into wild Momijis with sturdy after all.
>>24858156
Yeah, good point. Defense style still has indomitable at least which is pretty much just a better version of it, but I'll miss the pre-style-change early game OHKO immunity.
So what does the dream fragment do in regards to stats? Is it a boost to all stats and thus probably overpowered as shit?
>>24858153
Maybe puppets have three abilities to chose from now, like hidden abilities but without having to do pic related.
>>24858152
>入ると怒られそうだからやめておこう・・・。
Basically means "Let's not enter, because it would be rude to do so."
>>24858176
Supposedly, yeah.
It doesn't change any numbers on the info screen so as of right now there's no way to see what exactly it does other than trying to guesstimate its effectiveness in battle.
It seems pretty potent though, at the very least a 20% boost to attacks, defenses and possibly speed.
In the base game my Momiji couldn't beat the very first Marisa fight but now in the demo with the dream fragment she just demolishes her, but that could possibly just be that Marisa got toned down there too.
>>24858189
Oh. So Reimu just kicks you out of her house in this version which is why you fight Marisa outside.
Makes sense.
>>24858192
The trainer AI scripts are either deactivated for the demo or toned down for the early game. I.e. they'll pick attacks randomly instead of targeting your weakness or in Marisa's case choosing focus/spread based on your defense stats. So that might have something to do with it.
>>24858189
this pic reminded me of that episde in jinrui where the mc found a spoon that turned her brain into sugar. complete with chibies!
http://anilinkz.tv/jinrui-wa-suitai-shimashita-special-1
>>24858201
Yeah, I remember hearing that and definitely noticed it in the demo.
The dream fragment still seemed to pull its weight throughout the whole demo though, Momiji started one-shotting things with neutral hits way sooner than what I experienced in the base game and was getting hit for a pathetic amount of damage in return.
i was thinking newtype would be equivelent to steel, but was wrong. kinda stupid that i can't really see any reason in its res/weak other than balancing porpuses, which is bad.
still hope my prediction tht new item is mega evolution will turn correct.
>>24858213
>tfw no season 2
Left side is without item, right side is with item. Both after two turns of attacking. Marisa used the same spread attack every time.
Seems it might only be an attack boost, possibly speed as well.
>>24858310
do both puppets have the same ivs at each time?
also, too few experiments, please remember damage varies, and at low levels even 1hp looks like a lot.
>>24858230
I think that's why they went with "chaos" for a new type, so they didn't have to justify resistances/weaknesses via regular logic
>>24858371
Yep, same exact stats, reloaded a save prior to the fight.
I also redid it a few more times and it seemed consistent with damage variance in mind.
With the item on she always consistently did noticeably more damage, damage received always ended up in the same 8-11 health left with or without it.
>>24858396
So 20% ATK/SpATK, maybe also a speed boost?
That seems kind of nuts; even just 20% without the life payment of a Life Orb would be stellar, a speed boost would make it amazing
>>24858310
That'd kinda be a waste then on more defensive puppets... but then again this game hates stalling so maybe that's the point.
>>24858409
Maybe reset with a slow puppet to test if it boosts speed?
Huh, well, in further attempts at testing for defense changes I let Marisa win on purpose.
Which then locked the game in an infinite loop of it automatically rematching her and sending out a level 1 blank-name-no-sprite puppet and instantly losing the battle, only for it to rematch again.
Still no signs of defense boost
>>24858409
>>24858415
I'll try that out in just a moment after I eat, if you'd like to help out real quick toss a puppet name at me that has abnormally low speed in normal style.
>>24858423
Shit man you found Rin.
>>24858423
have you tried uusing diff mons? perhaps species/mark change effect? perhaps its like pokemon hp where evs change its effect?
>>24858423
>a puppet name at me that has abnormally low speed in normal style
Orange is the slowest with 10 base Speed, Ruukoto, Yuuka, Kisume each have 20 base Speed.
>>24858464
No, so far I've only used Momiji so far, I'll try it out with Orange in just a moment as the guy above me just suggested.
A thought crossed my mind that it might boost your highest stat, but Momiji had more speed and focus defense than focus attack. She had a focus defense mark for those tests.
>>24858479
another question-
does this item work on any puppet or just on your intial?
>>24858498
Any puppet with a heart mark.
>>24858498
Translated description states it only has an effect while held by a puppet with a heart mark, which your starter has by default.
Supposedly there'll probably be some way to put it on others.
Just tried Magan for the speed test since on second thought I figured 10 base speed vs 70 would be too extreme to overcome even with the S IVs and potential boost.
30 speed and S IVs with dream fragment was still slower than 70 speed.
And same as Momiji it increased damage dealt but damage received was pretty much the same.
I'll try one more time with a 50 speed puppet.
>>24858562
If if you want something inbetween 30 and 50, Normal Yukari has 35 Speed, Normal Alice has 40 Speed, and Normal Koakuma has 45.
>>24858576
Yeah, I'm trying out Meiling with her 50, thanks though.
>page 10
New bread when? i hope that anon that does fanart returns.
Bam, confirmed, dream fragment boosts speed and attacks.
Meiling without it goes slower, with it goes faster.
Still no signs of it affecting defense.
Hemo really really hates stalling.Which is good.
>>24858597
Let's let it die first then we can think about if we need a new thread.
>>24858189
Forgot to mention that I', pretty sure that the dialogue can also be translated into "There's a good chance that she's still angry, so let's not enter."
>>24858597
Please start with the links and all the stuff this time, whomever decides to do it. And wait more time, we lasted a long time at page 10 last time.
>>24858608
There also seems to be speed variance in this, is that normal?
With the item on it's about a 50/50 whether Meiling will go first or not, without the item she's never gone first in 20+ attacks.
>>24858635
With the item she probably ended up tying Marisa's speed hence the even split.
Which should give an idea of how much it increases her speed for that matter.
>>24858635
Maybe there's no variance, maybe it made her have exactly the same speed as the other puppet, in which case it's just the game coinflipping.
>>24858652
Feels like it's probably about 20%, same as the attack boost.
I don't think there's any way to refine it any further since I have no idea what the Marisa's stats are and it likely wouldn't have the same SSS IVs that I would have if I made one myself.
>>24858657
Yep, it definitely seems to be as you both said, it's coinflipping with the item on, she's still never gone first with it off in 30+ attacks.
>>24858608
Nice research there anon. That item sounds pretty ridiculous.
>>24858703
Now everyone's favorite 2hu is pretty much always going to be the MVP of the team.
I like it.
>>24858709
>Now everyone's favorite 2hu is pretty much always going to be the MVP of the team.
That does seem to be the aim. It's almost like a non-shitty adaptation of megas
>>24858608
>>24858652
So, Dream Fragments increase Speed by ≈30% (since a Marisa w/ 14 spd is tied with a Meiling w/ 11 spd & Dream Fragment).
Would it be safe to assume that they would increase Force Attack and Spread Attacks by ≈30%, as well?
>>24858971
Gotta factor in the fact that the Meiling also has S in speed where the Marisa probably doesn't have shit, that's the main problem with trying to math it out.
The attack boost feels like it's about 20% and I'd wager that's where the speed boost is at too.
Magan at 30 base speed couldn't go first no matter what, Meiling at 50 with fragment and S speed matched Marisa at 70 and Momiji with 65 and S didn't even need the fragment to go first.
