I don't think new pokemon are always the answer to fun.
Something like Colosseum/XD that breaks up the traditional formula and brings novel ideas to the table while still fundamentally being pokemon would be refreshing.
It'll never happen now though with the way the wii u is doing and certainly never on handhelds, but a man can dream.

Why wouldn't they introduce more after Gen 6? They're this Gen's main focus so of course they're gonna add heaps each game and shill the fuck out of them, but from Gen 7 on they'll take a backseat to whatever the new big feature is and we'll probably get 10 new Megas at most each game and since they won't be the major focus they might go to mons that actually need them.
