I'd honestly be fine with this, but the problem is that the type advantages aren't that easy to deal with. They'd have to throw in Shadow Ball or something, and it's a good bit of work for someone who doesn't know much about the split disassembly and may or may not have lost the source code.

Don't talk to a specific trainer on the path to Bills, later avoid a certain trainer on a path west of fuschia city so you can run into him later in game, get the fly tm, rerun into the second trainer with a poke that can fly, but save first, then as that trainer sees you hit pause, select your flying pokemon and fly to vermillion city, take path west, game glitches and puts you in a battle with mew, bring a poke with hypnosis/sleep powder. Tada!
