I think unless the league really, really steps up its game, I might still hold DP as the best Pokémon anime overall. Both series are very even in my eyes, but the quality of the leagues might tip the scale.
Even if Ash goes and wins the Kalos League, I might still hold the Sinnoh League as the best league so far, since the Kalos League is still not up to the same quality or hype as the Sinnoh League was, unless Ash vs Shota and Ash vs Alan are absolutely spectacular battles. They better be, considering they've upped the animation quality for the battles so substantially in XY only to not fully utilize it for the league until, supposedly, the Ash vs Shota battle.
But then again, there's the Team Flare arc directly after the league that might compensate for the lackluster league a bit, though it would still be somewhat disappointing if the two remaining battles aren't up to par.

Greninja, Goodra, Pikachu, Snorlax, Infernape, Krookadile/Sceptile is his ultimate team, easily.
Pikachu and Greninja doen't need any introductions. Snorlax has always been his ace in the hole he only uses during tough as shit fights. Infernape has an INCREDIBLY high win % and has always been reliable. Goodra has a high win % and has a great moveset and I feel like it deserves a spot simply because of it being the only psudo legend that Ash has fully evolved.
Sceptile beat Darkrai and has always shown power and it also rounds his team out really well. Krookodile is also kind of a powerhouse in it's own right and could also have a slot if you don't have faith in Snorlax, Sceptile, or Goodra.

Serena isn't wearing a uniform. A Lass cannot be a Lass without one.
This is clearly based on the Gen 1 Lass design, but the nonstandard colors indicate that she wears this by choice, not as a uniform. If Serena's outfit had a white top (with sleeves) then she might pass for the RSE Lass, but at the moment she is a girl wearing a black shirt and red skirt, not a uniform.

The Unova league is when you could tell the writers knew BW was a failure so they just gave up at that point.
At the beginning of BW you can tell that even though it was a reboot, they were still sort of trying. It was the earthquake and the Plasma eps being skipped that probably pushed the writers over the edge and from there they just lost interest.
There were a lot of good ideas in BW that were just poorly executed, but the writers didn't say "Fuck this" until the Unova league, or arguably the Homika battle before that.

Its also rather ironic because the Unova league is the only time Ash did worse in a league than before (going back down to Top 8), and now in the Kalos league they have Ash break into the finals and him possibly winning.
I wonder why they didn't have Ash get in Top 16 in the Unova league, just to make it another parallel with the Kanto season. Him dropping all the way down to Top 16 probably would have made shit hit the fan though. Top 8 seemed too high for Unova Ash because that's the same rank he got in Johto and Hoenn.
