I never understood why this was so popular. It's not even a proper rock-paper-scissors set of typings since Dark is flat-out immune to Psychic, not just resistant to it.

Fire/Water/Grass is a standard and set tradition that won't change.
Why not Rock/Ice/Grass ?
I think it would be fairly balanced. More than FWG imo. I mean come on, Grass has 5 weaknesses + 4 resists and water has 2 weaknesses + 4 resists. How is that balanced ?

How about Fighting/Fairy/Poison starters? Not an exact triangle but way more interesting than fire/water/grass.
Alternatively, Fighting/Rock/Flying is an actual triangle.
