If this is the writers on their A game, I'm not that impressed. The only thing that has even slightly piqued my interest is what I've been told of Team Flare, and I know that they were limited to the Mega Evolution specials and have only appeared a few times in the main series. One of the reasons I left was that I was tired of "waiting for something to happen". Like I said, this would've been better as a miniseries than a weekly show.

In Super Sentai case, all evidence is in the link I've posted. Besides, there's an interview with Black Condor's actor where he was saying that Jetman (Superman Squadron Birdman) was presented as the last Sentai series in early stages of production (audition, showcase to sponsors and staff asignment).
Pokemon's case is just speculation because of the way XY/XY&Z series are being written. I doubt main characters will be changed, but it sure looks like anime staff is having fun writing this generation

I'm starting to think any thought of the show declining, at least in terms of viewership, is just the crying of those that hated BW. Then again, ratings are no indication of anything anymore. From their actions, though, there did seem to be an effort to try to return to formula and do the things that people want to see. There are elements of that in X/Y, but one cannot be totally convinced that was what happened. Their viewership is the same it has always been. There could be another factor, though I am not sure what.

Perhaps there is confusion of the concept. Pokemon is more well advertised in Japan than it is anywhere else. It has zillions of products to its name, with no real association to each other. Here, all of pokemon's success was placed on the anime alone. That situation does not exist in Japan. If it did, they would've been destroyed ages ago. The anime is not the central focal point of pokemon and it never has been.

Probably the main reason Pearlshipping was so popular in Japan was because Dawn was the most Japanese looking of all the main girls, both in appearance and in personality. Japan wanted to see two Asians together.
