Just for a small between game. Maybe just follow basic pokemon formula and focus more on characters being memorable with and the main character not being a Mary Sue, but with only one new mechanic; a travel partner where you manage 2 pokemon teams and can alternate leader for impending solo battles and split the 6 in double battles. The secondary isn't apart of gym battles or the league though, they just wait outside or something
