There are quite a lot more episode that are skippable. And most of those are XY&Z episodes in fact. To me, XY is of very good quality all the way from beginning to end while XY&Z has huge ups and downs in a very short amount of time.
Stuff like the episode of Citron recalling his meeting with Horubee at the end of XY is really the kind of episode that made XY "XY" and this kind of stuff is almost missing from XY&Z.
That said, we got the forest episode in XY&Z and this one is worth a lot.

That's what I was talking about when I said "the forest episode". But one of the many problems with XY&Z is that one moment you'll get "Satoshi vs. Alan", the next you'll get XY&Z 02 type of writing. The quality gap is quite enormous and physics are off during some battles, when XY had constant good quality with episode writing like the haunted house, the Citron episode where he makes a Mecha for TR, the Jessie episode where she falls for the bumpkin ikemen and so on. I enjoy XY&Z's battles but none of them turned out to be as amazing as the Gojika battle so far (and none probably ever will) and the Clermont battle still has to be surpassed in terms of animation quality.
The only thing that truly sets XY&Z on a different course is the TF plot but this one has yet to show its face. And I actually miss the rivals, especially because I enjoyed them quite a lot during the summer camp.

I love XY more than any saga so far but I'm also not one to be bias and this point is ridiculous.
This abrupt fillers in a somewhat interesting pace of episodes has been with XY since the beginning. Like did we really need to spend 3 episodes of filler in Ambrette Town when we were in a 4 episode streak of plot? Or when we were heading to Anistar City and then for some reason had to stop because Chespin and Bunnelby had to run some errands?
