Turns out the author for P3 and P4 and P5 was bullshitting. He doesn't want to touch the old games out of respect, he just doesn't want to give up his treasure trove of old plots to work with. Persona Q was a rip off of Maki's plot, Persona arena ultimax was a rip off of Nyral and god knows what kind of shit he'll steal from the old games to use for Kanami's plot in DAN. Honestly, there's just no way they can make the new cast as good and as memorable as P4's cast. Yukiko is not that great, but Kanji, Teddie, Adachi, Naoto, Yosuke, Nanako are. The best characters, or at least the most likable in the whole series.
