God fucking damn losin my mind on this shit. milkshape3d does not preserve normals for some reason. I've tried smoothing groups, some plugin which actually did help a little, tried default_smooth material and everything.

To the guy who was doing the magazine switching thing, did you ever encounter that? If so, how did you fix it? Manually averaging surface normals?

CoC is freeplay, but it's sort of dry, with basically no story, still it's worth trying

It's grindy in that top tier stuff is expensive and it takes a lot of work to afford it, but artifact hunting is a pretty involved process that you actually have to prepare for and pay attention to and all that, so it's not like you're just farming creeps for days on end.

Well fuck, didn't mess with scaling at all. The weird thing is, the normals SHOULDN'T be this messed up - they look fine in ms3d. So I'm beginning to think its overriding the normals during export or something. And yeah I have HQ geometry clicked, without it it starts removing faces duplicate faces and leaves holes in the mesh.

That's my script but I guess I must have missed that. Though, I don't see anything in that video out of the ordinary. What exactly do you mean? Is the reticle moving slightly or something?

And yeah, I've tried a few different things. Was doing models\weapons for shader, def_shaders/def_vertex (from some tutorial; also tried default_smooth but not sure if with weapons), and then for game mtl i've done both small weapon and default object. So then, what settings do you use for both Shader, Compile, and Game Mtl?

I mean the little jump the actor does when I change the sight configuration. About the AE settings it's just default. I load a weapon > tick HQ geometry > select all textures and change shaders to weapon > select animation file and export as ogf. After that I remove the animation reference and load the bones, it will say error but that's ok > then export to ogf. Milkshape is all default too. I got the aimpoint from OWR's mp133.

There are mods that make random roaming bandit squads hostile and add hostile mercs wandering around but in Vanilla you can have hostile roaming bandits too depending on certain factors.

If you want patches, use Zone Reclamation Project. I'm not sure how stable it is anymore with the new update, but given that complete still runs it likely will too. Now don't get me wrong, I like that Stalker actually reflects that guns in real life don't work like laser beams - a lot of people don't realize just how wide the dispersion can be sometimes, especially with worn out guns firing shitty old spamcan ammo dug out of a Ukrainian field somewhere. But vanilla SoC is kind of silly; it's especially bad in the early game where neither you nor the cheekibreekis can hit a flock of barns if you're standing inside the middle barn. If it only upped YOUR accuracy, maybe you'd have a point but it's across-the-board, which means NPCs will blow your ass off if you fuck about too much.

As for stealth missions, I tried them all in SoC, with Complete - WITH Complete - and I found them pretty much fucking impossible. I never noticed much difference in how mutants or whatnot were able to find me between vanilla and SoC, anyways.

Y'know, things you can use to handwave the fact that it's "too cheap". Personally when I encounter stuff like this is a mod or the base game, I usually interpret it the way it makes the most sense plausibly or acknowledge it as an abstraction of things for the sake of gameplay.

For example, the Ukrainian special forces using weapons that are irl exclusively used by Russians can be handwaved by just explaining to yourself that maybe Russia gave Ukraine arms shipments to help out with the Zone or how some people explain Freedom having NATO weaponry as them being propped up by NATO states.
