Right now there's only two games at the moment.
The original GBC game (a game that looked so good that people occasionally confused it for a GBA game), and then the DSi sequel, which got ported to 3DS, iOS, and PC (via Steam).
The original is better than the sequel, as the sequel is a tad short (but still great, with beautiful colourful spritework).
Besides those two, the final game in the trilogy is coming out on the 23rd this month on 3DS. A Wii U version of it is to also come out, but a date hasn't been revealed yet.
Finally, a 4th standalone game set after the trilogy is being worked on right now actually.
The games are fun platformers and are Metroid-inspired, having one interconnected world instead of being stage based.
They're still worth checking out if you're into that.

In any event, the general premise is like a lewd Rune Factory with a tad more focus on playing how you want and less requirement of doing EVERYTHING in order to progress with things (though the option is always there).
Additionally, I intended to make it so that every single NPC can be courted (romantically and/or sexually), because why not.And I do mean every last one.
My trouble comes from the fact that I'm suffering from the opposite of the usual issue - rather than having no ideas for what characters to make for each role, I have too many and can't choose between any of them.
So ultimately, I came here to ask what types of characters (both for personality and appearance) would others think would best fit a few roles, and see if I can get the ball rolling from there.

The premise is actually really simple, coding-wise. I've got that worked out already, and it's essentially just cut-n-paste for most things. That's my issue, I started with that and the single rock caused a landslide. Now I've got a giant pile of ideas to sift through, and they're all just a viable as the others. I'm plagued with indecision. Basically, I'm here to get a second opinion/general consensus for what would be fun, interesting, or at least fitting for the specific role that the character would fill, then go from there based on what types of characters were already used and what's left over.
As an example, trying to think up what sort of person to make the mayor of the player's village. There's a shit ton of things that could be done for that, but it all normally comes done to preference, and I have none. There's not really a story to work off of since the point is just to live out your life in the given setting as you please. Thus, there's no particular need for the mayor (or anyone else) to be one particular way or another. Thus, it's all a bit of a toss upand I'm not pleased with what generators have presented me with, as they basically print out the same thing with different animal parts.

Yep, this is something I did plan on doing, given the general ease of making things for it.
Definitely want to get some starter content in, though (which is seemingly difficult for just wanting to toss around waifu/husbando ideas), so I'd probably not release it until I got at least essential roles in, like the various shop owners and such.

Systems have a tendency to become pretty hard to change. Try to make everything modular so changing the combat system won't fuck with the rest of the game at least.
Events have trouble handling combat changes if you make them have combat cutscenes and shit for example.

Rune Factory's a spinoff of the Harvest Moon series. Basically, Farming simulator games with a mild focus on waifus (plus JRPG elements in Rune Factory).
As far as the scenario goes, I mostly just meant from the perspective of having something set up to allow for it registering multiple people or not (which, thinking on it, could just be via checking the party, in theory), but expanding on it is perfectly fine! Works to define potential events for their route and all that.
And everything is intended to be optional, technically speaking - much like the games its inspired by. You will honestly be able to play as a squatter the whole game, if you REALLY want (though this isn't advised, of course).
