Yes. The Atlanta is made for dakka. -45 percent commander skill and the reload speed mod. You can just shit out boolets on a target. The only thing Atlantas can shoot to death are BBs and those can go down to torpedos easily.
Seriously, its so much fun launching 14 shells every what.. 2-3 seconds at a target. DDs go into a fucking panic and cruisers just melt.

Its on discount now. I couldn't give you the right price. I do know for a fact though that it is very strong. Ive divisioned with people who knew how to play and they absolutely graped with it. 4 battleship turrets + a large flight deck. It can hit hard like a BB and strike out anywhere like a CV. Its got a rather generous reserve of planes as well. You cannot go wrong getting this bote.
Also the premium tier 6 British DD is absolutely amazing.

Why can't I see anything at all on radar or when I look around, despite the enemy ships being well within my radar circle range?
Numerous times now, I've been shallow dive or on the surface and a battleship INSIDE my radar circle is fucking invisible, and blows me up instantly.
Also, I rarely have enough air to get to battleships or carriers. I stay surfaced ANY time I can (without receiving BB barrages to the face) and I don't dive deep unless dodging torps. What the fuck am I doing wrong?

IJN have amazing, long lasting oxygen rates (At max tier, deep dive uses less oxygen than normal german/US shallow dives)
There are commanders that provide % chance to refresh oxygen 50% faster, and consumables to regen oxy 50% faster (And those commanders stack with the consumable.)

get the 50k silver "+ 300-400 view range" equipment (It can be swapped between ships for free.) and that helps a sub a bit. I also use the + sonar one.
The thing about subs is the scouting they do provide, is while being invincible to cannon fire (while underwater) and being tiny when surfaced as German/US.
IJN are larger, but can ram DD who charge them,(and other subs) and have much better oxygen reserves due to being larger.
For subs I tend to go for torps first, then engines(when available, for move speed) and radar(spotting xp.), and move on. (If you like the sub and would think to use it as your 'play an elite ship for 2 wins a day for 50k silver' daily.. max out the ship to get it elited.

BB player here, the most annoying and deadly subs that i've seen are the ones that either take a long route around or are lucky enough to unnoticed by using a path that nobody pays attention to. They aparently use the split-second spots that sometimes happen when a BB fires when nearby another bote's radar or from scout planes to plan their route and get to them. Once close they basically neutralize the BB because he either diverts his attention on you or gets torp'd. Even if its not instantly a kill, a BB dealing with a sub HAS to move around and thus, wont be able to provide fire support to the botes in the frontline. Once the fight starts, surfacing is risky because a lucky secondary volley can make a dent on you and god forbid the main guns hit you.

When a BB runs, you should shoot torps. Not to hit but to control where he goes. You shoot once infront, he stops. Again, and soon he will be sailing directly away from you. Then you just chase him to the edge of the map, which with what campers BBs are is always very close, and when he's cornered you give him the coup de grace. If you play IJN it may be fast enough to finish him beforehand, if you play nazi it will be easier to survive as the CV desperately tries to save him. It's all tradeoffs with submarines.

Well, as I play the Pepsicola, I individual fire and have max reload speed. Maybe its just supposed to be hard to play? Honestly that sucks if it isn't that good. At least you have torpedos though compared to US cruisers at t5+

Different anon but I will answer your question.
Lets start by going right off the bat and saying. If you want a realism simulator, this is not for you.
This game is WoT on water/Navyfield/Battlestations Pacfic all mixed into one neat package.
The game has a nice balance.
BBs are strong heavy hitters that are functionally blind by themselves and are prey to DDs and subs and CVs that get past their AA.
CAs hunt CLs/DDs/CVs and BBs
CLs hunt DDs/CVs/ subs
DDs can hunt anything
CVs are kind of like WoWs CVs in the fact that they can kill everything. The trade off is that they are very blind and need team mates spotting for them. There is no "skillway" or anything resembling. CVs are powerful at all tiers in the right hands.
I can say right now that DDs are probably the strongest class in game and the 2nd most important if not the most important in fleet battles. CV is first or 2nd. Both are the most skill demanding classes.
Angling and armor works in this game, it can help you reduce damage, but it will not make you immune to damage. Sitting still is a death sentence in this game.
Anyone who tried to point their bow at the enemy and shoot guns would be laughed at and brought to the bottom of the floor.
AP is the go to round in this game, HE does more damage but has much much less penetration.
All ship classes are good.
All nations are relatively balanced with distinct trade offs that don't put them far behind others.
US cruisers have the best guns for example but lack torpedos at tier 5 and up.
A bit of warning the ship grind isn't that bad. You can also invest in the growth plan in game for IRL gold monies. Recommend that you do because its such a good deal.
But the real grind in the game is the captain grind.
Captains in this game are for different ship classes.
All captains are hotswappable to any ships class in any nation, regardless of their own.
All captains when grinded out are very powerful.

I've reached tier 10 and I see absolutely no use for gold ammo or torpedos, regular ammunition is just fine.
With gold you buy with IRL cash.
You can exchange it for free exp and convert it to credits.
You can buy captains with gold gacha style instead of using merit. Both are RNG with what you get. When you get duplicate captains, you get qualification points, accumulated qualification points are used to upgrade your captains and their skills.
So you can use gold to increase your changes at the RNG game, but it will not give you give some end game captain fully maxed out.
Recently there was a bit of a problem with people cheating, afaik the clan that was suspected of cheating had mass bannings recently. I've not seen hide nor hair of the people I suspected of cheating in game for awhile, and I've been playing every day.
You farm merit with all the events that happen weekly. Fleet battles, 5v5, BASED KITAKAMI MODE. At the end of each month you get merit/free exp for your fleet's ranking in the fleet battle system. Also at the end of each season you get a reward for your renown rank in game.
