There's a few "major" (like https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1167) or obvious (even Dodgykebab might notice https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1242). Besides bugs, there's also things that are unfinished (for example, devs are going to implement dynamic spawn timers so some spawn timers currently have default values that are obviously wrong: https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1067) or unproven details (for example, they haven't done any stress testing yet so nobody knows if the server is going to completely shit itself with more than few hundred people online, and if it does, fixing that might take a while) that effectively prevent it from being released right now.
On the other hand, it has attention to detail far exceeding any other server of any other expansion. Consider Blood Furnace: Yes, Keli'dan the Breaker adds are currently not linked but then again, if I was as rigorous in my testing for other servers as I've been in testing Corecraft, I'd wager I could find at least a dozen issue categories. Or I can go to Silvermoon City, try to follow the RP events happening, make a list of things that seem as though they could possibly be wrong and then research them in detail. There's two issues in the bug tracker: Blood Elf Magisters inside M'uru chamber are killable (https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/1985) and Silvermoon City Guardian RP interactions might or might not be exactly correct and needs research (https://github.com/ccshiro/cc-buglist/issues/682). I also think Lor'Themar Theron speech might have changed in 2.4 while server has 2.0 content but I simply can't find evidence of that being changed in 2.4 and I don't report possibly wrong details that ultimately don't matter (while I have reported more significant details that would matter if they were incorrect, often proving or disproving them myself later on).

Of course, the testers aren't omniscient about how things are supposed to work and don't notice minutiae unerringly. But I think the fact that those kinds of details are reported as bugs says something about the server (because everything else seems to work, be it BF patrol paths or Elrodan&Aurosalia RP event in Silvermoon, and because it's already so polished, even inconsequential details stick out and are something devs would care to fix). It's not so much about buying, rather, just play the market (auction house) either setting up a crafting skill or getting used to flipping items.
Eventually, if you plan on raiding, you're going to need excess gold to supplements pots, flasks, as well as other buffing mechanisms, so the need for gold exists, just not at your level.
Besides, there might be a time at 80 where you'll want that gold around for say, a world epic, let alone buying flying (assuming you're playing WOTLK).
