DM's sucks post DSoD, which I haven't seen yet so I can't judge it. GX has a pretty good ending, with that final duel between Judai and Yugi. 5D's feels the most 'final', though. Wraps everything up in a lovely package, which would've been a lot more satisfying if it was more of an ensemble piece instead of Yusei having 80% of the duels to himself.

There are definite highlights, but half of those episodes can be fucking flashbacks to the last episode. There are flashbacks every two fucking seconds I swear to god. But then you get stuff like Yugi vs. Strings,Yugi vs. Arkana, Jonouchi vs. Keith, Kaiba and Yugi vs. those two mask assholes, and a bunch of other examples that don't immediately come to mind but are still pretty damn fine. It's just that the ending is hot trash garbage with little or no closure after the Ceremonial Duel, which is itself a pretty good duel.

You can't skip the whole Synchro arc. It introduces many important plot points, and it's actually not as bad as people make it out to be. Sure, it was slow, and it didn't give the characters any room for interaction, but that's that. It had excellent worldbuilding and powerful moments/scenes, such as the conclusion of Kurosaki vs Dennis.
Really, it was better than anything 5D's did after episode 64. I just can't wait for the hitotsu ni subplot to unveil so the Yuseitards shut their mouths once and for all.

The magic mumbo jumbo stuff was all 4kids, they made it seem like a big deal when it really wasn't. Kaiba was focused on his present and never really cared for his past connections, but with all the Battle City and Millennium World shit he was eventually forced to realize there was something there. There are still many inconsistencies with his character portrayal as a result of NAS incompetency.
I love DM but the anime isn't that great. I would suggest you read Kaz manga which pretty much fixes all the major flaws of the anime while leaving out all the unnecessary filler.
