Everything in the game is designed to make you log in every day, just like garrisons. The difference is that instead of taking 10 seconds with an addon you're forced to play for 2-3 hours a day everyday to stay competitive.
The problem is that people who want to spend 8 hours a day are punished and there is literally no point to playing more than 2 hours a day unless you want the 2million gold spider mount or you play alts. Each alt will require you to play for 2 hours as well.

I'd say the difference between 1.12 Dungeon BiS vs Naxx BiS was around 3x in power. Warriors about 4-5x increase in dps.
