It's impossible to tell right now because they're still only working on tier X. Their general idea right now seems to be keeping base pen around the same, but the drop off over distance will be massive. Also most premium rounds had their pen gutted.

It was retarded that you could just spend gold to make a tanks strengths (Good armor) go away when the tank is already balanced around those strengths by sacrificing mobility and sight range. You should have to flank the super heavy tanks or get great shots in, not load gold ammo because "lol my shots should just be able to pen reliably even though the tank was literally built to be extremely hard to pen."

Tbh every artillery with better than .8 accuracy will hit heavy tanks when fully aimed in 80% of the time. Shots hit the center of the aiming circle much more than they do the outsides, and the aiming circle does get pretty small when fully aimed in. It's easier to see with battle assistant

Arty got their pen massive nerfed, premium rounds removed, alpha cut, but now inflict a massive stun that can fuck over your loader and driver (maybe others, it's harder to tell) for a time (I've seen as much as a minute, usually 30-40 second on direct hit though). Arty gets assisted damage credit if anyone shoots the stunned target(s). Maybe people think it's actually worse now because it still rapes your modules, and now has a stun period you can't do anything about. You may not be dead, you depending on where you get stunned you might as well be.

Take a look through the Russian tank models in War Thunder some time. WoT is fun, but don't try to grind up to the high tiers. Use the YOGSCAST (EU) or WOTREDDIT (NA) code to get a free premium and then get yourself a Chaffee or T67 and just be happy with that. The game gets really cancerous starting at tier 7/8, and it only gets worse from there up.

They aren't adding more premium artillery because they already have one blatantly overpowered legacy artillery (the Lefh) that they feel like they can't nerf any more without people asking for their money back. Maybe if they successfully balance artillery in a way that the playerbase accepts, they could add more premium artillery, but fat chance of that considering the basic idea behind artillery is retarded, and that basic idea becomes even more retarded when you add mods into the picture.

They're intentionally limiting your ability to play that class, and for good fucking reason. Either play the shitty low tier artillery, or deal with the fact that you have to pay up in order to fund your overpowered one shot clickers. If they let you ruin other people's games without ever playing real tanks and without paying for premium time, then their business model would fall apart because all the people spamming high tier artillery would cause the rest of their playerbase to quit.
