My idea was more along the lines of replacing the weird human-like trainer with your Mii instead.
You could also post updates (like claiming gyms, catching pokemon, etc.) as Miitomo posts people could heart and comment on and make miifotos about.
Then they could include the pokecoins to buy clothing from the pokemon go shop (whenever they update clothing) and have it cross compatible so those with miitomo could have the clothing as well.
There's a way to make it work.
