I'm so freaking glad for the deal with Deep Silver, we can actually get games like 7th Dragon III and SMT IV:A physically now, and don't have to wait for one and a half years to get some fuck-you-level digital-only release. But seeing how Aksys seems to get all the awesome Vita games on their belt, like Shiren 5, Exist Archive and Tokyo Xanadu, I hate how I have to either import the physical release or settle with digital-only shit if I want to have them if no other company can get the publishing rights for them. Not really. It won't satisfy some JRPG grinding itch since it's mostly a beat 'em up. You finish the game at level 50/99 with most of the skills you want to use maxed out. There's nothing to gain from leveling more.
The postgame stuff is mostly for your skill level. There's an Xtra new game option that gives you very little health so you have to actually play well instead of just being OP.

Trails in the Sky has no central hub to return to and it's much less structured. It's more of an adventure around the country. Cold Steel 2 is less structured as well.

Spells have 2 different attributes (aside from element and whatnot):

This is the amount of time you can use a spell before it breaks. It resets after finishing a mission or you can get some charges back by Sacrificing(if you're Master Race Avalon), Saving (if you're a faggot) or Leaving it to Fate (if you play with your Fedora on).
Maximum number of charges increases with Upgrading mechanic

This is basically how much damage a spell does. You can see this attribute on the color of the spell's border: bronze < silver < gold < black
You get better version of your spells 2 ways: Completing higher level missions as rewards. Or Fusing them
