I think they should fix the third poke with the lance on the other styles and change adept. Then I would be alright with them in MH5. They should put a cooldown on adept styles dodge by adding another meter. It'll build up the more you attack, that way it can make sure people who are already good with adept will see a a difference but not by much and scrubs who use it as a panic dodge class are more likely to stay away.

Try a bunch of weapons, you'll find one you like the most. You might even be surprised which one it is.
Get good with that weapon. Then later try branching out into other weapons, some are better for getting certain carves, or more effective in single player versus multiplayer.
Just put in at least 10-20 hours of gameplay before you start asking questions because 99% of questions you'll have will be answered with "use what you like the most".

I'm not going to say you can't do it, but you're making things harder on yourself and depriving yourself of alot of fun. Basically the only weapons I don't use are Glaive (it just never felt right to me control-wise) and Great Sword (simply because I used it so much in Unite, 4U was spent trying out everything else).
If you're dead-set on maining one weapon, though, you'll want the most adaptable and versatile ones. Those would probably be:

The problem with MHX/MHG is that the smaller 3DS looks way sexier than the big one.
So MHG comes out soon. I was wondering if anyone here would want to voice chat and do every single gatherhall quest together when the game comes out. Anyone interested?
