Also, forgot to mention about Sims: Long range torps.
Even if they're slow and low damage, they're useful for area denial and you sometimes do get hits on oblivious ships. For example, this one torp hit won the game when it sunk a Yorck going around an island.
The short range torps usually force you to make very suicidal maneuvers, which is something I don't approve. A DD is very powerful in the late game, so it's not worth to die for a quick kill.

I remember I tried out Aslain's a while back and for whatever reason it would sometimes just cause half of my UI to not load in at the start of the game.

citadel armour is complex, if you get penned through the bow by his rear guns they will overpen and do minimal damage. The idea is to deflect one set of turrets and get hit in a part of your cross section where pens = overpens and do tiny damage instead of citadels.

To make sure the smoke stays away from the superstructure and/or deck as much as possible.
This becomes more important the faster you ship goes, because that generally means more smoke.
And (as they found out then, though it is blindingly obvious today) the superstructure of the ship leaves a turbulent wake, and if you got unlucky with the wind direction, speed (of wind and ship) and the placement and shapw of the stack, this could cause the rear of the ship to be essentially covered in your own smoke that was in a 'trapped turbulence', essentially stuck to your own ship.
As a sidenote, the same thing famous happened with certain ships' wakes, which sometimes tended to trap the ships' waste and rag it along across the ocean.
This is said to have prempted at least one report that concerned itself wit hteh possibility of an enemy submarine smelling the 'swere like stench' the ship dragged around with it.

Like with the Nagato it was because they would have a lot of issues with smoke in their pagoda masts, so with one of the earlier refits of the Nagato they tried the curved funnel to try to keep the smoke from fucking with their fire control and optics and stuff, but eventually they dropped it in the final version after they completely changed out the old boilers for much better new ones.

I was going to save my free XP for the German BBs but (despite being my favorite ships around) playing nothing but the Hotel and Iowa solo pretty much killed my enjoyment of the game so I decided to blow it all on getting to the Zao instead, and so far the Ibuki is probably the ship I've enjoyed the most in the entire game so far. I only just got the thing upgraded from stock a few games ago and all my stats started skyrocketing compared to when I was playing BBs so apparently it was the right choice too.

The differences between the two, do to the way WOWS is, would make the Sumners and Gearing basically the same ship.
Basically the Gearing was a longer Sumners, which in real life allowed for more space for fuel and thus longer range, and more space for post-war upgrades to the ship. Neither of these things are relevant to WOWS however, so there would be little reason at this point to implement the Sumners into WOWS.
