The trick to crafting is:
1. Do leves to level the craft
2. Get jewed for HQ items that you can't actually make reliably yet at your level
3. Once you can reliably HQ those level items you now become the jew and encourage others to take up crafting

The key is that several crafts have incredibly useful if not vital crossclass skills at 50. Once all of your crafts are at 50, some simple rotations should make HQing 100% of the time easy as long as you're not attempting something blatantly out of your gear's stat range
