Pokemon Go can be described simply as the Geocaching of Pokemon. Grab your smartphone, get some exercise, catch some mons, battle some people - the usual Pokemon gig.

Basic info:
As you traverse the real world, as represented on the in-game map, you'll occasionally run into tufts of rustling grass. Approaching these will end with a Pokémon appearing on the map, and clicking on it will initiate a battle.
Battles aren't between two Pokémon, though. They're between a Pokémon and your ability to swipe a Poké Ball in their direction. When you engage a Poké Ball, a colored ring will appear around the opponent. These change in size after each capture attempt. Throwing a Ball during a smaller window seems to be more effective, based on our time with the game, but that's a part we're still trying to figure out.
Going near water will attract water Pokémon. Playing at night brings out more nocturnal creatures, like Clefairy and Gastly.
Hatching Eggs: Each Egg displays the number of kilometers you must walk for the Egg to hatch. In general, the more kilometers required, the rarer the Pokémon that will hatch. A notification will appear when the Egg has hatched.
Make sure you have the Pokémon GO app open while you walk. Kilometers walked when the Pokémon GO app is closed won’t count toward hatching your Eggs.
Gyms: Fight at your team's gym to train and increase it's reputation. Fight at other team's to decrease their reputation. Tap your opponent to hit them, swipe left or right to dodge attacks, once one or more blue bars are filled, tap and hold to power up your secondary attack, release when the smaller blue bar fills up. Take over other teams' gyms and put your mons in to defend them.

Is there any reason not to just dump a weakass pokemon to guard the gyms? It seems like no matter how strong a pokemon you set as a guard somebody can just grind the gym down with pokemon hundreds of CP lower. I know grabbing turf for your team is supposed to be fun but the system seems to just heavily encourage driving to a few gyms, dumping your trash mons, collecting some tokens, and repeat in 21 hours.

You guys know how combat in this game works, right?
When you're battling enemy Pokemon in the gyms, there's a yellow flash a bit before the enemy Pokemon attacks. When the screen flashes yellow, swipe to the left or right. You'll dodge their attacks.
When it says they're using their special ability, just keep dodging. I haven't been hit by a special move yet.
Wait for the yellow. Dodge. Hit them with basic attack 1-3 times until you see yellow. Dodge. Repeat.
Hold down on your Pokemon to use your special move. EZ PZ.
I just soloed an entire gym with one Pokemon using this tip. 4/5 of them were higher level than me. Including a Jolteon (I had Vaporeon) 300+ levels than me. I'm having a grand time ass blasting those red faggots out of all the local gyms.

Use your strong pokes to attack it, but guard it with a mid-low level poke. Then go to shop after you've used your strong guy to beat a few gyms and collect the free tokens per gym.
It's honestly a shit system, there's no reason to invest a strong pokemon in a gym unless you know 3+ other people that will come to back you up and even then they can just chip 50 prestige off at a time by killing just one pokemon.

Yes, all the time. It doesn't take that long if you can clear the gym consistently. Usually when I'm going around in a group, we grind spots for everyone. When I'm alone, I only do it if the gym is close to leveling up or if the roster is big enough so that you don't get just 100 prestige per win.

Tbh spoofing isn't really worth it, I've been doing for a day now and I just got soft banned from it. Basically they're starting to crack down on it now by tracking your location through google and if something doesn't add up they'll just hit you with a ban. People need to understand that leveling is pointless because gyms are broken and unrewarding. You don't need high cp unless oyu want to battle gyms, and battling gyms does nothing but give stardust and a small amount of pokecoins. Stardust is only useful fo making your pokemon have higher cp. None of this affects your ability to catch pokemon.
You get the same pokemon no matter what level you are. If your goal is to catch 'em all, you don't need to powerlevel or lucky egg whatsoever.
In fact, you're better off not leveling or doing gyms, so everything is weaker and easier to catch.

Go to a public park with a few pokestops in it, make a literal circuit out of it, just ignore the radar and move as fast as you can. Pokemon spawn according to movement first and foremost. Moving into different pokestop regions boosts the spawn rate massively
