You can unlock some outfits by doing step up mode or by getting high enough level, but there's not really any collectibles. No story or any other stuff like that.
There's a Step Up play mode that's sort of like a challenge mode. It has things like "only push X for colorful notes", "do this song with the notes moving faster", do this song and miss less than 30 notes" or "do these two songs and get at least an S rank while notes disappear after 2 seconds" to give you a general idea of what it's like.
If you like IA and you're okay with the game being a bit easier than Miku games then go for it. There's 60 songs included on cart. The "the best" release is pretty cheap so go for that one. Here's the track list:

All good things, now if only they would add actual content to the mysterious series games they would actually be good. Content like side characters interacting with each other and multiple endings, more events where the side characters are actually important to the story being told instead of only having one role to play. Monica had some personal development, she got over her fear to sing publically. And then decided to pursue a career on singing. Not everything needs to be have super effect in the games world, just fairly normal people going on with their lifes and own problems.
That's what I like about Atelier games, they're not some grandiose stories about saving the world, though in the end Sophie might have done that anyway with her game. And they offer some little stories about the side characters, maybe I just enjoy them more than most people. Really liked the book shopkeepers little quizzes too, those were charming.

Right now, we're in an age of most stories coming out being fairly predictable with uninteresting unengaging writing; falling heavily on average anime plots and whose characters are static and unchanging in reference to what the stakes are And I'm not sure if it's a trend but a lot of protagonists tend to be idiot protagonists. Who's own youthful angst and willpower often work against their own self interest.
Anyways, I like the these games not because of the scope of the story, but because of it's writing.

There's a difference between older and more prevalent, anon. Mind you I started my gaming when my old man brought a 2600 home and didn't actually understand what I was doing until halfway through the NES's lifespan so my information is both biased and partially obscured by youth.
From my recollection though, a lot more RPG's had world maps than were straight up dungeon crawls. Actually the first person battle view was really there too, but it was still accompanied by exploration and maps. Actually now that I think about it, as I'm thinking about it, the first RPG I actually finished was Paladin's(?) Quest. I think that's an example

Most of them aren't the first-person dungeon crawling style, though. I see tons of ARPGs coming out. Star Ocean and Tales were always like that, but FF15 is like that, Nights of Azure was like that, and then there are the Souls games.
Not to say that traditional turn-based RPGs aren't still coming. We got the Atelier series, I Am Setsuna, and World of Final Fantasy.

1hp fight essentially with pretty much every boost to melee (namely Adrenaline rush and wild instinct for skills and red mist and red mist+ for devours) and that one skill that lets you survive any attack so long as you guard against it.
90 second Muscle Booster II and flash grenade spam too.
What I'm aware of is:
Adrenaline Rush +20%
Wild Instinct + 30%
All out attack +20%
Melee atk (+b) +10% +10%
(Special Melee +20%)
(Mid-air atk b +20% ) I didn't really use these
Add all those bonuses on top of double divine scythe and the items and it gets a bit stupid. Also incredibly hard to survive.
