The design notes for 76 specifically note he is a transition character for Call of Duty players. He is dead simple; Lshift to sprint, m2 to fire rockets, E to drop a healing field for a few seconds. The problem is that competitive things like odd numbers so that a clear winner can be determined. A gametype like payload is pretty much glued to a 2 round system unless both attack and defense have about an equal chance to win: then it can be 1 round.
Sudden Death, and the coinflip, is the fairest way to introduce a 3rd round into a 2 round dynamic, and determine a clear winner. People don't like it because it's perceived as unbalanced, even though both sides have about an equal chance to win.
It's a good system that appears bad.

Stopwatch isn't fair though. It puts the second team at a disadvantage, and it encourages rush and stall tactics as opposed to slower teamplay. If you're attacking first and make the push, just go 2 Winston\Lucio\Tracer and contest the cart forever. They won't beat your time if they can't move the cart quickly, so just slow them down.

Remove the coinflip and let the team with the quicker time choose if they want to attack or defense.
The choice doesn't really matter because sudden death is pretty balanced anyway, but it would take away the feeling that you lost to a coinflip when you actually lost because the other team was better.
This avoids the bullshit feeling of losing a sudden death, doesn't have to deal with contest or stopwatch cheese, and doesn't introduce ties into competitive.

What's the best Bastion skin?
Even though people say she sucks, I always have fun when playing DVa. Messing up Torbjorn's plans right from the spawn, killing that dumb Bastion picker, hunting Mercy all game long.
I wish her ult was a bit faster though.
