You have to consider that the hit rate on vampy's slow and charm are bad. You are forced to run SS to make them somewhat reliable, which mitigates the value of the latter anyway. Assuming you don't need dispel and aren't SS, I think there are definitely comparable replacements both in element, and off element such as Ferry.
I will argue that Jeanne, Six and Naru are more essential to dark teams than her.

Spec Cosmos axe makes hit rate a none issue. Also your argument is poor because Dark runs SS, Zerker, and Sage- nothing else. All classes that are enhanced by Vampy's kit. Six is not essential, not because he's bad obviously, but because he *was* shit before he got buff at the start of the year. Everyone managed without him before and do so even easier now. This is not to mention, that he requires *some* babbying to reach full potential. Thankfully he has dodge built into him, unlike Siete. Naru is strong, but a team anchor she is not, due to the limits built into her kit. If you use utility you lose damage and if you use damage, you lose utility. I.E. using the second skill in kagura gives you def down, but you lose multi attack/Using overdrive as doesn't allow you to use slow, etc. Jeanne is powerful, but is a Magna buster at heart. She's designed around shorter fights and with sustain in mind I.E. Sage and SS with GW harp.
Look, no one is forcing you to use anything you don't want. But trying to argue that Vampy isn't core to this element is really fucking hard.

I suspect this is because people are coming from other elements outside of dark where this sort of stuff is more split evenly. Vampy does what no other person can in the element. She fits into anything, enhances everything, and is super solid. The reason why she's good has less to do with *her* and more to do with the element itself. Nearly all characters with real utility or healing in dark are seasonal and those who aren't like Cerb, aren't desirable to run. It's a glass canon element that loves classes that can provide healing and some a margin of protection. Slow and defense down was the reason Grey was meta for ages before Sage and DJeanne, it had nothing else to do with the rest of her kit. I'm not trying to spread the gospel of the vampire here, I get what you're saying- however, if you're in a environment where her stuff doesn't matter, then you could run *anything* at all, because it's not serious stuff.
